    Hi everyone.

So my guy is going to fight a slightly taller guy (about 2-3 cm)who always come out hard with a lot of straight punches and wide hooks. To step into him and fight with him is useless cause he´s to strong. What do you think is the best way of taking on this "big ugly bear".
My plan is to use the stick and move and take him from the outside, step aside and hit him from angles and later on in third round probably both fighters will be tired and then use to trick him with feints and a lot of fast sharp punches.
    How would you do it?

nullify the jab with your own. and slip inside the wide hooks and go to the body. then keep him moving looking for a shot.

    Are they both orthodox?

Yes, they are both orthodox, my guy is fast in his hands and has good footwork, but the stamina is not 100 % right now.

Well you want to stop their jab short everytime you jab for one, place your right hand in front of your face to parry their jab when you step in for yours.

When they hook wide you want to come under them and go for your own hooks and then follow them up if possible.

Basically everytime he misses (strength) you want to blast him (speed) and then step off... that would be my tactic anyway. Work out how to close the distance, fire your arsenal, step away and wait for him to miss again.

Just move in, then move out, move in, move out... constant movement is the key.

Depends if you have speed and skill over him. If you do, then simply keep the jab in his face and simply out box him with speed. If not, then you should try slipping puches and/or bobing and weaving and going to the body. The vast majority of people I spar with are shorter than me and makes me supceptable to body shots and do they frecking suck.;)

    Thanks guys!
Good ideas, we will definetly go for speed and yes bodyshots is important. Must say that bodypunches are not used as much as I would like it to be in amateurboxing, at least not here in Sweden, don´t know how it is in the US.
I let you know how it went.

i had decent success with our tall guy jabbing up on his head. hitting the jaw at a 45* angle from the bottom almost at an uppercut angle cuz hes that much taller but the jab really snaps the head back because of that angle. i have a stiff jab to being an orthodox lefty so it works well for me. i also prefer to stay in close obviously to kill his reach.

    Hey Predator,
BNody punchs are often not counted in amateur bouts( look at the latest Olympics...) however a few good Body shots in the first round will make the tall guy think twice and hesitate (kill his confidence), Im pretty tall and can tell you that body shots are my worst enemy...(got dropped twice at sparring yuesterday but uppercuts to the body, not taking anything away fro the guy who did it but for some reason we could only use body shots we were not allowed to go for the head...and the guy was short and stoky) but yea if your guy can get in quick under the big mans hoos and unleash a few good uppercuts and hooks to the body in the first round it will definatly work for him later....

What I found confuses them is doubling up the jab, one downstairs and one upstairs. This will get you close, and from there on the task is staying close and not letting him escape. But of course there are many ways to get close, you could wait for him to punch and get underneath. It depends on the tall fighter I guess.
