Protein shake with water usually helps the recovery process. I only use them (Kerry Kayes' drinks) for recovery rather thant rying to bulk up.

    Stiff or strained?

If a muscle is strained, then you don't want to stretch.

Strained muscles stay in a sort of constant contraction in order to protect itself from stretching, and becoming injured to tearing.. One way to force the muscle to relax, might be acupuncture, though it wont always work. Basically, sometimes they can pinpoint the muscle fiber and stimulate it so it fully contracts, then relaxes.. But even then, you should rehab for a week or two.

If you are just sore/stiff, then take Amy's advice. Move and stretch. Also, if you are working out hard, its a good idea to finish off with some light cardio to expel lactic acid nearly immediately. Just a couple minutes, like five is perfect. Even a brisk walk will do it.

Pour some cold water over it. Alternatively, the navy has developed a variety of chemical substances that can reduce your libido. Good luck.
