What was the best and the most competitive division for every decade in boxing history? Here is my list:

    1880s - heavyweight
    1890s - middleweight
    1900s - lightweight
    1910s - middleweight
    1920s - light heavyweight
    1930s - welterweight
    1940s - lightweight
    1950s - middleweight
    1960s - bantamweight
    1970s - heavyweight
    1980s - middleweight
    1990s - heavyweight
    2000s - featherweight

Of all the entries in my list, 1960s was indeed the weakest. This was because it was hard to find a good division in that decade. The heavyweight division for instance saw utter chaos due to the Ali affair after already having seen Liston denied of title opportunities for several years. Welterweight was decent, and this was my first pick and whilst I found flyweight to be reasonable, I settled with bantamweight eventually. The Jofre-Harada bouts were what made me pick that division.
