I think Foreman over Moorer should be mentioned. Moorer was the boxer of the two, while Foreman was, well, George Foreman, the prototypical power puncher. Add to that Moorer was also a southpaw, which should have helped contribute to taking away Foreman's right, which he did for about 9 rounds, but we all know what happened in the end.

Who would be the archetypal examples of each style for you P??

Overcoming a stylistic disadvantage means a perfectly executed, carefully planned out strategy and a superhuman performance to pull it off. It does not mean getting comfortably outboxed for 9 rounds until you are trailing my miles on points, and then landing one punch. That is not an example of overcoming a stylistic disadvantage at all, nothing like it in fact.

I disagree 100%; in fact I think that is the ultimate overcoming of a stylistic advantage, lucky shot or no, he overcame his disadvantages not only in style, but also age to win the fight.

We can agree to disagree. I think that since he won, it should count as overcoming a disadvantage.

A result does not prove the overcoming of a stylistic disadvantage the same as a result does not equal a good performance.

I completely understand your point, but I disagree; I think the result is the ultimate measure of whether a fighter has overcome. The end justifying the means if you will.

Not neccessarily true. Beating an opponent in any way who holds a stylistic advantage on you would be grounds for overcoming their advantages. Typically you're not going to beat someone who has every advantage on you by any conventional method. It doesn't make sense and defeats the purpose of a question like this.

Frazier over Ali in their first fight. My point is proven partially because Ali ended up beating Frazier the next two times they fought. Also, Ali had better handspeed, footwork and was a supreme boxer, where as Joe was essentially a swarmer with good power. And yet Joe beats Ali via decision, not by KO.

In "Ghosts of Manila", Fraziers trainer said he knew that they were at a disadvantage in almost every category and that they key for them would be to get inside and stay active for the entire fight. The majority of Joe's training camp was spent increasing his stamina. This single attribute was the biggest reason for Joe's win.

Nah, it's a good choice, Calzaghe landed more on the defensive genius Hopkins than any other fighter. Your hatred for Calzaghe is bringing out the hypocrite in you (after the comments you made about Mosley in your "Mayweather - Mosley" thread the other day).
