I didn't realize how bad Nielly was until this Olympics, he was passable when Woodhall was with him but as soon as Woodhall took a break and left him on his own he was dire.

not only was he dire he must've been the most bias commentator i have ever heard and he also made some of the fights sound like the biggest robberies ever just because the guy he wanted to win didn't (Egan vs the chinese LH)

Yep, he was talking about the Egan fight being fixed before the fight started and then was determined to call the fight in a way that 'proved' himself right.

Agree with most of your picks apart from Rawling and Buncey :D.

Buncey can get a bit over-excited at times but that's just the passion he has for the sport.

Rawling is a bit too much like a football commentator and gets excited over nothing. Wish we had a guy like Jim Lampley on HBO instead of him.

You should put Duke Mackenzie in the 'worst' list as well. He may be a nice guy but he is a dire commentator

Bunce has a passion for the sport, but lacks knowledge (technical) to be a effective analyst

Rawling is not a boxing man, but he sounds like he has a desire to learn, has respect for the fighters and doesn't act like a know it all unlike Bunce

i just couldn't bring myself to put Duke "that really hurt him" Mackenzie in the worst column having met him, what a really good guy

You're right about Bunce being a poor analyst. The best analyst on British TV is Richie Woodhall by a mile. It's always intersting to hear his views about how a fight is going.

i think he was just following the party line, but when he's free to say what he thinks he's a brillient analyst

Maybe, but his grizzling over the Olympic scoring got a bit tedious.

yep, woodhall is head and shoulders above, he has what bunce lacks and he always tells you what each fighter needs to do to win and is doing wrong in the fight. I've lost count of the amount of times he says this is gonna happen and then a few seconds later it does.

David Haye always seems to know what he's talking about when he is on the BBC's (erratic:think ) coverage of the amateurs well at least the few times i've seen him on there
