Yeah. He then decided to make out that he couldn't fight because he was bereaved despite having been caught on camera in full panic mode post weigh in.

Maybe, but it still better to pull out than get cut the first time you are hit on it...

Not if you made the cut yourself to get out of a fight.

That is the point - no way did he get cut in sparring 1 week before the fight.

More like 'I am not feeling good after a long absence - get the blade out Adam'

Why not? Is it physically impossible to get cut in sparring one week before a fight? Is there a new law of physics that I am unaware of?

People who hate Haye like to cook up weird stories about how he was so afraid of Tyson Fury - who most people didn't give much of a chance at the time - that he was happy to forego a multi-million pound payday.

    It's beyond ridiculous.

The stench of that 'cut' will be eternal I'm afraid and goes into the Boxing Hall of Shame along with the 'Toe'.

Used to love Haye until he conned the public from the Fraudley fight to the present day.

I'm all for people disliking Haye. I can see why both the way he carries himself and the decisions he makes annoys people.

What I don't get is why people let the fact he can be pretty annoying override common sense. He clearly didn't cut himself on purpose to avoid Tyson ****ing Fury. At that point the guy had had troublesome spots with the likes of a totally out of shape Chisora. He was expected to win and win well for big money. There was no reason for him to want out of that fight.

His run at HW was a joke though.

so he was willing to have it with haye and in front of 30000 against wlad but was scared of fighting Ustinov in Manchester?

    yeah it makes sense!!

It all comes down to the dollars. He was expected to lose to Haye and to do so whilst earning big money. I don't doubt he thought he would win but in the back of his mind he would have known a loss wouldn't have been too catastrophic. He'd have a couple million quid in the bank and could come again having lost to a highly rated opponent whilst still young.

The same applies to Wlad. Big money, expected to lose but has size/youth on his size and could come again.

Taking a potential loss to a relatively unheralded Ustinov in a fight he hadn't prepped for while earning **** money however made no sense at all and so he tucked tail.

I agree it made no sense to fight a unknown for small money that however is totally different to ducking somebody.

Well he did agree the fight and then after looking at his opponent at the weigh in decided against it. To me that constitutes a duck.

If he'd have just said no following Del Boy's injury then I would have said it wasn't.

Well yes it is. It is better the public did not see fight that could have been over, due to a cut, inside 20 seconds.
