Lemieux would be a good test. Really all he needs to test is his power. As far as boxing ability he is head and shoulders above everyone else, and ability to take a punch has been comfirmed against power punchers at 154 in Angulo, Kirkland, and even CIntron landed a solid short right with a lot of power with Canelo coming in.

 

Canelo has never fought at 160. The WBC title has been fought for at below 160 for four cosecutive fights now.

Nothing wrong for a fighter to test the water at the full limit before actually fighting in it.

MW is 154+ to 160. Canelo has fought as a MW his last several fights. He JUST had an agree voluntary defense and chose to fight a blown up WW at 155.
