I think HBO shows the better fights at 160+ , SHO at 154 and below. Really tho it's a result of the TR - GBP issues and the Broadcasters' responses. That said, TR are now investing heavily in lower weight contenders, and GBP starting to sniff around the bigger guys a little more.

What we have though now is a lot of power falling into the hands of the smaller promoters like DiBella, K2 and Main Events, that suddenly find themselves with opportunities to make the big fights. I'm guessing that's one of the reasons Iron Mike has started up now. In a way it's a time of opportunity.

Not only that, but a new player is soon to enter the game - it is (to me at least) impossible to tell what impact the APB boxing by AIBA is gonna have on the scene. Could be the Best thing to ever happen to pro boxing. Could also be about the worst. Either way for any Bob Dylan fans out there - "the times they are a-changin' ".

Showtime has the younger fighters....American fighters.

HBO has the old fighters...Foreign fighters.

Garcia, Bradley, and Rios are all relatively young and are American. Alvarado is American and isn't that old. Donaire was born in the Phillipines, but has been living in America since he was 9 and is an American citizen. Martirosyan and Andrade are American as well. So HBO has a solid stable of young, American fighters.

HBO rocks on while Showtime are blowing their brains out trying to stay in the elite game.It is costing them a fortune just to be named in the same sentence as HBO.
That has been accomplished but at what cost?HBO will always be the superior channel with far more subscribers than Sho.:deal

They have Floyd, Matthysse, Broner and a few others...

I think they are doing just fine without those guys.

The main person that golden boy has that I'm excited about is Matthysse.

As long as Showtime has a contract with Floyd, they could give a **** about Kovalev. And GGG isn't even known outside of internet message boards and hardcore boxing fan circles. Not saying these guys aren't good, but They won't be anywhere near Floyd or Broner or Matthysse's level.
