I would've dropped Abraham a few spots at Super Middleweight too, based on his **** performance at weekend. By association Stielgitz needs to drop with him, and move up Groves, Degale and Dirrell.

h2h of course Beterbiev would smash guys ahead of him on that list but on résumé they do still deserve to be ahead of him...for now.

The method of defeating Cloud was sensational but there is only so much quality you can squeeze from a W no matter how sensational the method.

Fact is, Cloud has lost two in a row (arguably should have been four since most thought Campillo was robbed) and the previous one by stoppage. There is only so much credit you can give for being the second man in a row to stop Cloud and third in a row (should be fourth) to beat him - even if the manner of victory is as startling as it was.

The fact is, guys like Nadjib Mohammedi, Andrzej Fonfara, and Isaac Chilemba have more depth on their résumés than Beterbiev. Before you say Cloud is a better single W than any of them have, realize that is actually irrelevant. Even if Cloud - again, coming off two losses - were better than each man's best individual W, he isn't better than each man's best 3-4 W's combined. They all have that level of depth. Beterbiev, of course, having only had six pro bouts, doesn't. Before he beat Cloud there was nothing on his résumé to compete with anyone ranked top 15-20, let alone 20. His manner of defeating guys like Saunders and Bailey is very impressive - but the results themselves (no matter how much savvy boxing insiders may recognize what a feat it really is to knock out a guy like Rayco Saunders) don't and shouldn't mean all that much in the rankings.

Beterbiev has one single okay W as far as rankings are concerned. He needs to build on that.

Take Mohammedi - none of his best achievements compare to beating even a skidding 0-2 Cloud. Dudchenko, Ngumbu, Cherviak, Bois - none of those scalps by themselves are worth as much as even a 2014 version of Cloud's. All four of them combined, however > just Cloud.

The winner of Eider Alvarez and Ryno Liebenberg would be a good next step for Beterbiev and do well in Montreal if Alvarez wins.

how do you explain them putting Lomachenko 6th after beating a far less proven quantity in Russel? you can say he won a title but that means nothing about level of competition

also how is chad dawson still 5th, his moved up in division and has only faight once at light heavyweight in over 2 years. And in that fight he got sparked out in 1 round

    Yeah: It is very Murica-centric!

If Atrur were a Murican he would have crashed the rankings at around 7!

since he beat the number 7 in devastating fashion id say they would more than likely have him 5-6

It was for a title, which, like it or not, weighs heavily in the rankings.

Russell was undefeated, not on an 0-2 skid and coming directly off a one-sided stoppage loss...which, like it or not, factors in.

Just for the record having only 6 fights is a crap reason to leave a guy out of the top 10.
Wilder still hasn't beaten a top 20 guy, and due to 32 stay busy fights he has earned a top 10 spot?

Ring mag is owned by GBP for those that don't know already, and therefore irrelevant.
I used to think their ratings were good, but never really considered them any more special than KO mag, or Boxing illustrated's ratings.

    I agree.
What's the rest of the top 10 done......against top ten opponents?
This above all is the most important factor IMO.
He should at least replace Cloud at no.7.

The French-Canadian media is reporting that Beterbiev will fight next on Dec 6th.

It will be at the Bell Center in Montreal on the undercard of Lucian Bute vs. Roberto Feliciano Bolonti. The opponent is TBA.

    Over analysis.
The way ratings should work is when you beat a guy you get his number in line.
Boxing would be better off that way.
That type of over simplification is also the best way to eliminate corruption in the ratings system.

Maybe Beterbiev could fight Campillo or Chilemba.

Okay, by that logic there is no way in hell Cloud even would have been #7 in the first place coming off 2 dominant losses (and before those a robbery)
