Beterbiev and Callum Smith both successfully completed VADA testing (what are the excuses now)?

There are no excuses. Beterbiev had an abnormal reading which could be due to cheating but also could just be because he's a professional athlete...and so his levels are abnormally good to begin with.

Callum just got beat.

 

Smith just isn't in the same league as Beterbiev. Simple as that.

 

It should be pretty clear by now that anyone whose last name is Smith should stay far away from Beterbiev.

 

I think it's clear by now these testing agencies aren't keeping the sport clean.
The reason I personally believe Beter is most likely a PED-r now is the fact that he's not just getting abnormal testosterone and hgh levels, he's getting them nearing forty. That's where the 'athlete' excuse for his special bodily behaviour falls apart.
This is a biological clock issue, it's not about 'clean lifestyle' or 'keeping fit' or any other bs.

And when they're talking about abnormal levels, that would likely be abnormal for athletes no doubt since these are the people they are always testing.

Maybe this explains some of Beter's attributes, like fearlessness against these big punchers, general power and aggression. These are thing testosterone will provide. HGH isn't bad for staying young either, is it?

 

The age where testosterone drops off seems to be getting lower and lower every time I read these comments. An athlete who takes care of his body with good exercise and diet will not only slow down the decline of testosterone but eliminate it in their 30's. A guy who trains and eats like Beterbiev shouldn't be seeing a decline in testosterone at his age.

 

That's not what the atypical test results mean. Elevated doesn't mean actually high levels it just means higher for him than normal as being a Canadian based boxer he will be subject to a biological passport which will have his baseline levels of testosterone and HGH tracked over years. So elevated for him just means they saw an increase in his levels above what they have previously seen but it was still low enough to not trigger it as an adverse result, so well within the normal levels for a person his age. So he probably doesn't even have higher than normal level or at least not higher than what is deemed to be naturally occurring.

Orwellian. But can’t say I’m surprised by Lil Fidel and his politburo.

 

Every country that has a WADA accredited lab which has a single national boxing authority will have a national anti-doping program and so all athletes in all sports will be tested 24/7, 365 days per year and since 2009 a biological passport which tracks every individual athletes personal biological markers.

US is actually pretty much unique as it lacks a single national boxing authority which prevents any kind of concerted effort to test boxers on a national scale. Which is mind boggling if you think about it. If any other country decided to adopt the US system and prevent testing on their boxers they would get sanctioned by WADA and likely kicked out of international competition.

VADA is seen as some golden standard by US boxing when in reality it's far inferior so Beterbiev and Smith being cleared by VADA really is meaningless. It was VADA that cleared Whyte when he previously failed a test done by UKAD in the Rivas fight but then he again was caught doping later.

 

I’ve always been skeptical about professional athletes being clean but if Beterbiev was taking stuff he wouldn’t be the only one anyway, so I don’t think he has any advantage over his opposition.

He’s simply the superior fighter.

Beterbiev doesn't have normal genetics.

Based on what his sparring partners say, the guy has always been a mutant. He was fighting elite heavyweights in the amateurs.
