Similarities are there, think about it. Eastern european with solid amateur record adopted by canadians, ko artist fighting in Montreal. Beterbiev has had a better level of opposition so far but that doesn't mean canadians won't feed him with bums and milk the money if they can, it's not like they haven't done it before. Why else reject Kovalev's offer? Last fight with Alexander Johnson was Beterbiev's first trip to US, Bute fought his 8th fight in US with a guy called Norman Johnson..i'm telling ya all, those canadians are planning another fraudulent boxing star

Beterbiev might not end up being the monster he currently appears to be, but I don't think he ends up being compared to Bute.

That said, is there really an insult contained? Bute got hammered by one of the top guys in the division, went int his backyard and got blasted. Was he overhyped based on his comp? Sure. But was he an unworthy bum? No.

If Berterbiev ends up getting starched by Kovalev, that isn't the end of days for him.

    A bum waiting to happen?
If he actually is that, he won't be another Bute who's known to slice trough former beltholders and contenders like a hot knife trough butter. And making his name by decimating the opponents of the Super 6 guys in a better way as they did.
Ward and AA had trouble with Miranda, Bute just smoked him.
Bute also clearly outboxed Bika and Johnson.

Now Beterbiev is doing the same with former division beltholders and opponents of Kovalev and B-Hop. Making them look like mere cannon fodder.

So, both never can be labeled bums. Bums don't destroy gatekeepers and former champions close to when they were still impressive.

Bute actually had a decent career. Became a major belt holder and defended it like 6 or 7 times. Made a lot of money and still has at least one more big paydays in him. Sure he did not reach the heights many thought but he donducted him like a pro and stayed out of trouble.

Really not such a terrible thing.

Kovalev's manager suspects that Beterbiev's team turned down the fight because they want to force a purse bid. That's why Beterbiev's manager has put him in the IBF eliminator (meaning he'll be Kovalev's mandatory anyway if he wins that). It's all just strife between Haymon and HBO (Kovalev is tied to HBO). It's nearly the same thing that happened with between Kovalev and Adonis Stevenson, just with slight variation.

I meant GGG and Beterbiev. But Bute was a KO artist in his own way until he ran into Froch.

He's getting way overrated by some who believe he'd beat Kovalev and Ward. He's beaten some good opposition. But he's only had 9 fights and has never gone past 7 rounds. Need to see more of him, at least personally, to see if he is the goods or not.

Problem with bute is he doesnt have a plan b, whilst he possessed a decent jab, he never used it efficiently, whereas beterbiev looks brutal but also has decent boxing skills and uses them effectively, problem is we haven't seen them yet

Andrade revealed to the world what Bute's future was going to be. If the "hometown ref" had done his job properly, Bute would have suffered a KO loss on his record there.
