Woah, the guy didn't sign the contract. So why did he accept the chalenge then if he had no intention to go in there againstg Beterbiev?
Fair points and true, but let's be honest, GYM is a mid level promotion and doesn't exactly have a wonderful reputation. You're likely Quebecois.....loyalty is great but so is calling a spade a spade.
Yvon Michel is now trying to say negative things about beterbiev. He takes a person to write bull****. Yvon Michel is just busy retweet The chicken Adonis Beterbiev takes a person from england to write his version and last new of him. The latest news. yesterday http://boxingnewstoday.net/exclusiv...vyweight-eliminator-bout-set-to-be-cancelled/ BOXING Exclusive: Artur Beterbiev-Enrico Kolling IBF light-heavyweight eliminator bout set to be cancelled Russian light-heavyweight Artur Beterbiev may have to face another set back on his pursue of a world championship A fight between light-heavyweight contenders Artur Beterbiev and Enrico Kolling is looking likely to be cancelled, due to Beterbiev’s promoters GYM not organizing the fight and being unwilling to announce a date and venue of the eliminator. The pair were looking to finalize a deal to compete for a IBF final eliminator bout which was in play for a date at the end of July. No date or venue were confirmed, but locations such as Quebec and Montreal in Canada and New York were touted. Per the IBF rules, the fight had to take place before the beginning of August, and with just over three weeks until the proposed date, the fight is in limbo. Over the weekend, both Artur Beterbiev and Enrico Kolling updated Boxing News Today on the current situation of their fight. Beterbiev had signed a contract for the fight already, however Kolling had not received or signed a contract to make the fight official. The collapse of the fight has come in the middle of Beterbiev’s ongoing promotional battle with Yvon Michel’s GYM. The 32-year-old is looking to terminate his contract with them due to GYM not respecting their contractual obligations to him. GYM put Artur Beterbiev in a situation in which he had to sign the contract for the eliminator, because if he had refused to do so, he would have been disqualified by the IBF for refusing the bout against Kolling. And Beterbiev signed the contract several hours before the deadline. ”There comes a point where a person needs to take a stand and says enough is enough. This is not a hobby for me, it’s my career. It’s how I feed my family and ensure the future of my children. I came to a point where I felt I had no choice but to take action in order to protect my rights. No fighter’s career is eternal,” stated Beterbiev. Despite the promotional issues going on outside of the ring, Beterbiev said he was confident that everything would remain in place for his scheduled return against Kolling. ”I have a duly signed agreement for an IBF eliminator fight in July and I expect everyone to live up to their contractual obligations.” ”I’m hard at work in preparing for the fight in order to ensure that I show up in peak physical condition. My sole focus is on the challenge that a fight with Kolling poses. He’s a world caliber fighter and it is imperative that my preparation be optimal. I’m following Mark Ramsay’s directions to ensure a successful camp.” Many people had been questioning why there had not been an official announcement for the fight. In an exclusive interview with Enrico Kolling, who has only lost one of his 24 fights revealed unlike Beterbiev he hasn’t signed a contract to fight just yet, but is training to prepare for the fight and has been told there are plans in place for a date and location. ”I have not signed a fight contract yet, everything has been verbal. According to the plans, the fight will take place on July 29 in Montreal, Canada. I hope this works out as I am preparing for this date,” revealed Kolling. ”I am excited and looking forward to boxing a strong man to decide who is ready for a world championship. I think a lot of Beterbiev and I know I am the underdog but I want to use all opportunities to get to the top. I think that I am just as long in the ring as he and I also have a lot of experience although I am younger.”
Beterbiev actually speaks very good English. There are a few videos out there serving as proof. I'm pulling for him to get out of this promotional mess and get with a better promoter -- possibly someone based in the US or UK. He could become a marquee fighter on one of the major boxing networks (like HBO or Showtime). I really hope he's keeping himself fit, focused, and sharp in spite of all of the garbage he's going through w/Michel (and Reva). Wishing him the best of luck.
This guy seems like such a snake... Everything's starting to come together. I fully believe that the fight with Barrera fell through largely because of this leech and his shady behavior, Barrera and his team were wise to steer clear. Hopefully Beterbiev can break free and move on with his career, and hopefully others see this and avoid partnering up with this toxic career killer.
Artur made the worst possible chess move. Funnily enough, Anna Reva manages some fighters from EoTT. I'm hopeful this bout will happen, though. I don't know how long he's got left on his contract with Yvon.
Beterbiev now has to fight against his own promoter like GGG when Universum was stalling/holding him back.
