I always thought Ward should have had a few DQ losses on his record. I respect the man's desire and willingness to get seriously dirty to win. How the refs refused to see it baffles me. But he's not the first to do it and get away with it. Ricky Hatton loved his head and elbow attacks. It's an awful side of the sport. Some refs see it as part of the sport so ignore it. But there is a man's life, health and livelyhood at stake so it shouldn't exist. A dive in football whilst in the same way is pretty disgusting, it's not hurting anyone physically or mentally. Or take golf for example, if Rory McIlroy walked around with 10 extra balls in his pocket and dropped them where he wanted in front of the cameras and ref and get away with it. The sport would be a laughing stock. So I've always appreciated the fighter who fought with aplomb within the rule set. Back on topic I do think Beterbievs style negates a lot of that. He's just throwing bombs too often and from too short a range. Plus he would have fired back to the nuts.

Then he fights the ghost of Chavez jr at 164 !!!!! Now he's moving up to 168!! for another patsy. In between he robs GGG of two deserved wins. He has NEVER beaten him LEGITIMATELY!!

The same Beterbiev that lowballed his way out of fighting Sullivan Barrera is a nonfactor to Ward. Nobody is ducking Beterbiev just like nobody was ducking GGG. GGG kept low balling good competition. As soon as he stopped lowballing Jacobs immediately signed for the fight. Beterbiev tried to pay Sullivan Barrera, who has a better resume as a pro $62,000 and rightfully so was left in the cold.

Bivol at least had the courage to get in the ring with Barrera and prove he was the better man. Bivol offered Barrera $250,000, which was a fair offer and not a lowball. If Beterbiev isn't getting good opponents he needs to accept responsibility and stop lowballing.

 

Beterviev is a very crisp and hard puncher. Very accurate.

Ward is a dirty fighter.

 

Ward wins 12 -0 rounds. Beterbiev would do worse than kovolev n would struggle to land anything clean. He'd get out classed.

 

If Ward had beaten Beterbiev he'd have been ducking Bilvol.. If he beat Bivol , he'd be ducking Gvozdyk.

He wouldn't have been given any credit unless he fought every top guy in the division.

It doesn't matter that these guys aren't fighting each other , Ward would have been expected to fight them all.

175 has a lot of good boxers but its only a good division if they all fight each other.

If any division needed a WBSS it was 175 , but the fact it not happening proves none of the top dogs are keen on fighting each other for the time being.

 

He was terrified of GGG before wasn't he ?? Why on earth throw the belt he had just won away ?? GGG hadn't slowed so much at that stage, they waited for him to slow down !

 

That happens with every elite fighter though, people keep searching for that loss when they are not a fan !

 

C'mon man, the Canelo relinquishing belt fiasco after Cotto was as clear as crystal, Sturm wanted no part of him and an old Martinez swerved him. He was shut out blatantly !

 

Beterbiev's promoter won the purse bid to gain promotional rights to the bout, offering $251,000 to beat Main Events, Barrera's promoter and the only other bidder, which offered $181,000. Based on a 75-25 split in Beterbiev's favor, he was entitled to $188,250 with Barrera getting $62,750. Barrera and Bivol are both with Main events.

 

Ward would be a huge problem for Bivol and Gvozdyk, but Beterbiev destroys Ward, in my opinion.
