After watching Kovalev-Chilemba, I can almost surely (90%) predict Ward's victory. What do you think about chances of Beterbiev, Gvozdyk and Mekhontsev to defeat Ward until 2019 ? Who is the best among them ? I admit I have been watching almost all Beterbiev's fights, but it is not case with Gvozdyk and Mekhontsev. I have only read about them, but there is a lot of persons predicting great future for them. What do you think ?
Wake me up when Ward faces an elite technical boxer. AA a blown up middleweight with brawling instincts, Kessler, washed up and similar to AA. Froch is a slugger with heavy hands, Dawson destroyed by Adonis afterwards...........oh yeah, Wards entire career is composed of fighting sluggers...congrats. 49 year old Hopkins outboxes Froch or Kessler.
I have a great respect for Kovalev , and prefer his fan friendly style comparing with Ward's boring clinching, but I feel that Kovalev is pretty limited against slick opposition, and the best proof is match against Chilemba; Kovalev was good/very good only three rounds (7, 8 and 12). The rest was average, nothing more....But, new EE LHW are coming. It could be very exciting...
Basically Ward stinks and is a fraud. lol The only way he legitimizes his career is if he enters the ring vs Kovalev. I'm not completely positive about this but a small part of me thinks you may not be giving Ward a fair assessment, just my opinion.
He isnt that limited against slick opposition, he shut out hopkins. He will come out more agressive against ward.
That would be an excellent approach one that I'm sure Ward will prepare for as well as a more methodical approach feeling Ward out and his reaction to certain offensive and defensive moves delivered by Kova. I agree most don't give Kovalev the mental edge on this hypothetical bout and rightfully so I think most would agree Ward has a deeper grasp of the fight game when compared to most however John David Jackson is a great addition to his team and will be a vital instrument for Kovalev....he just needs to execute like he did vs Hopkins.
All three have a chance, Gvozdyk probably highest. Beterbiev has to work on his recovery and improve his variety. Mekhontsev has somewhat drifted into the fog, but at his best he's a damn good boxer. All three will need to add more angles to their game to eat Ward though.
Gimme a break zop, Kovalev just beat Chilemba 10-2 and dropped him, on an off night, and now you want to go running in a snit to Ward, ye of little faith. Kovalev looked better than anyone has to date against Chilemba, who says Ward doesn't look like hell against him, after all Ward only beat Bika by 1 round. Kovalev, Beterbiev and Gvozdyk all beat Ward, as far as Mekhontsev goes, I'm not sure.
Kovalev outpoints Beterbiev (gets A side treatment in a fairly competitive fight), knocks out Mekhontsev. Gvozdyk probably has the best shot. Although I don't get how Gvozdyk can make 175. He looks like he'd be a big cruiserweight.
Yes, but I expected much more, he was genuine in only 3 rounds (7,8, 12)...I would like that you are right, I have been waiting for a competitive match on the top level long time...
