We all know Bivol aged him Beterviev also beat him in their first fight and Bivol was in his absolute prime while Artur was not. Their first fight is what most people remember , not their second Bivol beat a forty year old man He clearly lost a lot, even Ray Charles can see that. Artur is a first ballot hof 39 year old Artur is better than Bivol Bivol is better than 40 year old Artur Discuss
Better fighter but not a better boxer. The gap in boxing ability isn't that big, so a younger version of Beterbiev probably beats Bivol. Bivol does have a decent chin so probably wouldn't win with ease ko or not.
Honestly, if it was Beterbiev before Gvozdyk, I'd bet money on him. But Bivol is amazing. The two are the best light heavyweights of the 21st century.
All hypothetical nonsense. Its not like Beterbiev is a slickster who relies on speed. Power is the last to go, and you can even argue his ring IQ increased as he fought pro. He landed many flush shots in the 24 rounds against Bivol and Bivol was never in any serious trouble, let alone stunned. People make it sound like the first fight was some sort of clean win and Bivol was back peddling the whole fight when in reality people who know boxing and aren't biased / have an agenda all had Bivol winning.
Like... maybe? But it's all hypothetical. All we can go off is the two fights that actually happened, and Bivol won both of them. Also: Beterbiev has gotten a little slower/his reactions aren't quite as quick, but honestly he's not massively different. Let's be honest here, dude is probably using peds to 'stay young' (hence all the fight cancellations and the 'atypical finding' in his blood test last year) but he's also gotten better as a boxer/gotten experience fighting a lot of good opponents. Also there's no evidence that Bivol was the reason the fight didn't happen sooner. Could've been Beterbiev. Was probably both of their promoters just not really wanting it to happen.
Prime Beterbiev certainly wears down Bivol, possibly even KOs him, but I don't see it very lopsided; Bivol's too smart and skillful. Anyway, fighting as well as he still does at 40 in a division that necessitates conditioning in addition to power is nothing to sneeze at. He can wind down his career with pride.
Nah Beterbiev got a small gift decision in a close fight first time round but got soundly beaten last weekend.
Beterbiev and Bivol both became Champions in 2017 with Beterbiev seeking out all the other Champions for there belts and made 4 mandatory defences,Bivol on the other hand in the same time frame made 1 single mandatory defence. This fight could have happened almost anytime from 2017 and Beterbiev held all the belts apart from Bivol’s WBA belt by 2022 yet still the fight did not take place until late 2024 ! Without a doubt Hearn aged Beterbiev out for Bivol and was instrumental in Beterbiev facing all his mandatory’s. Beterbiev even asked Bivol directly on a few occasions for the fight but nothing ever came of it. How much Bivol was involved in aging out Beterbiev who knows but Hearn 100% used the Canelo v GGG strategy until the Saudis got involved and then the fight had to happen .
Without a doubt this is correct. People bigging up Bivol for beating a 39/40 year old...sure, if that makes sense to you. At 35 every boxers best days are behind them. Each additional year is a further point from their best. By 37-38 you are a shell of former self and at 39-40 you are prone for a terrible loss on any given night - your speed, stamina, timing, and even better are all significantly deteriorated. Dont believe me? Why are there virtually no champions that age range in ANY DIVISION across pretty much ALL HISTORY?? Beter stops Bivol twice if its the Beter from Gvodzyk fights. Bivol's inability to seriously separate himself from this version of Beter is telling.
