Fair enough, but I can’t see what you see. I’ve never even thought of him as being fast and fluid in anyway, even as an amateur he was all about timing and short punches while bullying opponents.
Kovalev isn’t a sturdy dude though, people pretend that Ward just cheated against him but Ward legitimately hurt him. Canelo splattered him and I think plenty of other middleweights would have done the same if they caught him.
He walked right through a bomb from Jean Pascal like it was nothing. Does he have an elite chin? No. But before the vodka he had a very solid chin.
He's not fast. He's not slow either as many casuals will have you believe. And he's a little too fast to fit into the slow-fast speed category albeit we may see him do so in the not too distant future given he will soon be 38. He was just faster and more fluid back then IMO
It was reputedly a body shot KO but I've heard otherwise from at least two different sources And Doug Fischer described it as ''scary'' ''I've seen video of what GGG did with Krusher up in Big Bear a few years ago. It was indeed scary.'' --Doug Fischer
Kovalev was a shell of himself when he fought Clenelo and even Dre admitted that he probably wasn't The Krusher when he fought him and that was a big flush right hand with everything Dre had on it Not saying he had the best chin but it was definitely much sturdier when he was in his prime There are loads of pros and world champions on record praising GGG's power, many much bigger and heavier ones doing so too

The guy [Golovkin] hits incredibly hard. Ive been in the ring with heavyweights, cruiserweights, light heavyweights, and I get in the ring with this kid and every time he hits me, I say whoa!'' Ryan Coyne (former CW now LHW) ''Hes a ****** beast, said Coyne, a 20-0 cruiserweight prospect who has recently dropped down to light heavyweight. Hes been running guys out of here. Nobody under 175 pounds will spar with him.'' Ive sparred with heavyweights who can punch, including Mariusz Wach and Mike Perez, nobody has hit me as hard as Golovkin. His power is out of this world. ''I spent my summer up in Big Bear training with Gennady Golovkin who is emerging as the most murderous puncher in the boxing. I watched former champions, light heavies, cruisers, and even heavies get sent home.'' David Imoesiri HW The dude can hit, Im still getting used to it, said Imoesiri, who like Coyne, is delightfully bright and articulate. Its crazy. I sparred with [undefeated WBA heavyweight beltholder] Alexander Povetkin and he never hurt me like this guy.'' I must have done 50 rounds while in camp with Povetkin and it was three and half weeks before he hit me with something that made me hold on. With Golovkin I was ready to get out of the ring 45 seconds into our first round of sparring. He hit me with two lefts to the body in the identical spot and had me doubled over. I got through it but its hard to defend against 6-inch punches with that much pop. He backs me into a corner with just a jab. And it seems like he does it effortlessly. You have to give him credit, because he had a good handle on the situation and it was an honor to meet him in the ring. Even though I lost every round, I wanted to fight on. [Early on] it seemed to me that I was resistant to punches, but eventually they caught up with me. For each subsequent start, I went out out with another plan, trying to surprise him, but he is really great," Proksa said.
