I've a feeling this fight is going to be made.

Both Haymon. The other big 175lbs'ers under that stable are all tied up fighting each other. Stevenson-Williams/ Alvarez-Dawson.

This fight seems to make sense.

Unless maybe they make an all NY bout between Smith and Browne

Smith upsets him by ko beterbiev leaves that chin wide open and high up in the air when fighting on the inside.

Usually, Gaymon does have a habit of throwing these guys to the wolves right after they cause an upset. Happened with the guy that upset Savigne and then with the guy that upset Jack. I'm sure Beterbiev vs. Smith will come up.

I'd rather they build Smith more than just throw him right to the wolves.

A better fight for Beterbiev would be that Bosnian American who just got shafted against Browne. Joe Smith's team would be insane to throw him in with Beterbiev after crashing onto the world scene the way he did.

Beterbiev would get nothing out of smashing a guy like Smith. He should face technical boxers who can move and use angles.

Let me guess: Because Jeff Page Jr exposed him, right???

Beterbiev kills him. You need more than power to beat Beterbiev.

There was a reason why Smith was ranked no.46 and why Beterbiev is in the Top 5.

If there was ever a way to stop Smith's momentum, it would be to put him in with Beterbiev. Poor guy's career would be over before he even got a chance to make some 5 figure purses and lift his family.

Pascal/Bute etc would be good fights for him.

Beterbiev would starch him and quickly.

I hope not, even though I picked Smith to win, the only one.:D Beterbiev would destroy him, even though I'd still root for Smith Jr. its too soon to put him in the ring with such a beast, he had a bad style for the defensively irresponsible somewhat chinny Fonfara, Beterbiev for all of his flaws, chin isn't one of them.

Let him face a few Monaghan's and Yunieski's first, build his resume a little more rather than throw him to the wolf in question.

    Indeed

Some easy fights first, then Pascal/Bute and then maybe a Beterbiev type of fighter.

AB right now would bulldoze him very fast.

Beterbiev is no giraffe necked Fonfara and neither does he have the same flaws either.

    Easy work for AB.

Whomever mentioned Pascal hit on something. I would jump at that if Joe Smith were my client. This is a perfect time to get Pascal. He had everthing beaten out of him by kovalev and you will get good money fighting him along with his name on your resume.

I think Y. Gonzales beast the **** out of joe Smith.

Browne first, to build his US fan base, then Pascal or Bute for a name. Then a title shot in March/April next year. A loss against Kovalev's not gonna hurt that bad and Joe will finally have a payday (and big exposure). He's young enough to make a comeback. Against Stevenson he may actually have a chance next year, especially if Jr builds up his defensive skills. Stay away from Beterbiev, Gvozdyk, Mekhontsev, Shabtansky, Bivol for the time being. Too high risk/low reward for Joe. I'll tell you about Ward in November:)

I totally agree with this. Causing an upset ok, but don't forget he was in trouble when that right hook landed.
Beterbiev will simply blast him out.

Someone mentioned Browne. Yup, I think that would be a fair fight for Smith Jr.

Most likely, Gaymon will throw him right into a fight he can't win.

Smith should fight Browne next, elevate his WBC ranking and go for Stevenson before Beterbiev gets locked on to him and grabs that title.

Smith is a KO waiting to happen himself, and Adonis could PROBABLY get him b/c Smith is a brawler and Adonis a CPer.

But, if Smith can get the lead R hand in, he's got the WBC LHW title in a rd. :good

Browne is GARBAGE. Smith KO4. :hi:
