Beterbiev beat Kovalev 25-24 in the amateurs, that's not by a hell of a lot, and Artur hasn't progressed that much since turning pro, whereas Kovalev has progressed by leaps and bounds. I do think there may be a degree of fear there. And yeah at this point Kovalev does a number on him.
The offer may have been garbage. Artur will knock Kovalev out cold when they do eventually fight (unless Ward has given Kovalev a boxing lesson by then). :yep
To be fair though, Beterbiev has only nine pro fights. They might want him to get more experience before puting him in with Kovalev.
Yeah that too, but I still think Artur is slightly afraid. And with good reason. I love all these guys who think Beterbiev will just walk up and KO Kovalev, like he won't be throwing punches back, and with his come forward aggression that's a recipe for a brutal KO loss for Artur.
Stevenson seems like an afterthought at this point, Haymon should feed him to Beterbiev and send his ass back to Montreal.
Now that's a match that I really want to see. And then on to a unification War Of The Russian Bears for the ages.:happy
I'm not too interested in what happened then. What I see now, is a far more complete boxer in Kovalev. His jab controls the range and affords him more opportunities. Beterbiev is powerful, but I think he's shown a lot of vulnerabilities. Kovalev's the real deal, though. :smoke
What a fraud beterbiev is, he wants to beat on ol popkins, but wont take the challenge against the krusher? atsch
