It's my contention that Lastarrza go ta split decision over a Layne who was on a downward spiral.
He was never the same after a certain Italian American crushed him

This was his next fight after that defeat by the Italian American

Layne was saved by the bell at the count of nine in the 10th round and "was bleeding from the nose, mouth and a deep gash at the corner of his left eye when his handlers picked him up and carried him to his corner".

Layne was down in the 6th, 8th, and 9th rounds.

Layne then beat 2 journeymen and los tto Mathews winning 1 round according to the press. Layne then beat another journeyman and got a gift decision over Charles who set the record straight 8 months later with this result.

Layne was knocked down once in the 6th, once in the 7th and once in the 10th.

I believe these to be more positive accolades than you have ever given him here ,and that they compare very favourably with any other posters! And I posted them with great sincerity

I've three books on Marciano and a collection of his fights.
THAT WOULD BE ODD BEHAVIOUR IF I DISLIKED HIM!

Beterbiev is 37 years old, do you think it likely he has reached his peak and so can be matched with past fighters?
Or do you think he is still in the learning stage and likely to either ,improve /implode?
