Why doesn't he just step up and grab Beterbiev's 3 belts then?

All he has to do is flap his mouth and he will get the chance.

Even David's dad is terrified of Beterbiev and they're ALL gambling on him getting old overnight so they can get their opportunity.

I remember only a few years ago David Benavidez saying he was NOT ready for Beterbiev as he was too strong.

how many times did Benavidez tag the much smaller Andrade? You think Benavidez has 1 punch knockout power or something?

It would be a great, great fight, but Beterviev just too strong and hits too hard and isn't unskilled or yet too slow or lacking stamina to eventually KO Benavidez. Definitely a PPV I would buy.

Because he has unfinished business in his current division being first in line for the biggest fight in the sport?

Beterbiev is not a big draw and money fight and its just a fight hardcores will appreciate. I assume you asked this same question to Bivol and Canelo right?

I prefer to see him against Bivol, because it's his true weight class.

Canelo actually had the balls to step up and challenge himself though

Benavidez just wants the Canelo payday before getting his head knocked into orbit by a 40 year old Beterbiev

Canelo wanted to challenge himself by an opponent who had not knocked out anyone for 5 years and looked average prior? Nah Bivol was a cherry pick to duck Benavidez. Canelo has rejected TWO huge offers to fight Benavidez so far.

It’s called prize fighting, or no? I don’t know of any fighter trying to get the least amount of money. If a money guy is in the same division, why wouldn’t a contender want to have a crack at that?

Since Bivol and Beterbiev are not fighting each other Benavidez might just as well fight one and then the other.

Apparently Bivol vs Benavidez might be next.

Bivol might range control Benavidez, throw the long combinations that make Benavidez shell up, and then pivot out unlike Andrade.

But I find it hard to imagine Benavidez with his size and press forward style will not be able to do some damage to Bivol. And how will Bivol react when he gets battered? Canelo wasn’t able to do it. Canelo wanted to counterbox and gave Bivol way too much respect between rounds.

It’s possible. Beterbiev has been hurt and dropped and his opponents haven’t been elite.

This fight can only turn into a slugfest and someone is going to get KTFO.

    Canelo won't fight Benavidez.

Canelo wants the path of least resistance. He tried Bivol and fell way short. His fanbase will forgive failure only a few times before turning their backs on him and not paying top dollar to watch him anymore.

Benavidez may well beat Canelo but he should also be aware of Plan-Canelo too and that's to maximise revenue for PBC and not take too many risks.

I am calling it now. Canelo will not face Benavidez and DB will be forced to move up to a naturally suited weight class in 175lbs.
