Bivol can not afford to take to many free shots on his arms with his high guard. When you fight a guy with that much pop in his shots it sucks the life out of you no matter where he hits you at.
I could be that bivol is a little bit better than gvozdyk. Both are very technical guys, gvozdyk is taller, faster and the bigger puncher, bivol has great stamina, great IQ and know always what to do. But beterbiev is a rarely seen specimen. Even now he has incredible stamina, is cool as a cucumber, he reads fight like very few guys in boxing. He is an extraordinary boxer with incredible heavy hands and atg fight IQ. There is a reason that even usyk had a extremely difficult time with beterviev. Bivol will try to outbox and outcounter beterbiev, he will be on his bike like Lance Armstrong. But I still think beterbievs punches, even on the arms, body, his clinching skills will take a toll on bivol and slow him down in the late rounds and beterbiev will get him with a brutal body attack and probably finish him late. If bivol escapes to the scorecards it will be quite possible that he will win a close decision. But it's a fu... historical fight and we all should be thankful when it happens. To absolute elites and imo top 20 atg at light heavy will fight each other with their 0s on the line. Imo this is the biggest fight since money vs pac
I can easily see Bivol dominating the first half of the fight. If Beterbiev lands enough he could wear Bivol down and stop him. For me it really is a 50/50 fight and hope it won't go the way of Kovalev vs Stevenson. It needs to happen.
If it is marketed properly it can do very well in PPV sales. Beterbiev has the style that makes casuals salivate. I hope promoters don't miss a trick here.
Bivol seems to be looking more dominant while Beterbiev is showing more vulnerability from what we’ve seen now. We need this fight made now more than ever.
I still favour Beterbiev to stop Bivol, but with every second that ticks by, Bivol's chances of winning increases.
Bivol is comfortably outboxing Beterbiev until he gets caught, slows down and the ground down and stopped.
Beterbiev's skill is misunderstood. He has a solid amateur career with close and a controversial loss in the 2008 Olympics amongst others. He knows how to stay at the optimal range for his power shots and takes trades punches knowing that his power and stamina will result in victory. He doesn't take a lot of punishment, but he certainly isn't a defensive technician. I don't see Bivol outboxing him easily, AB is more skilled than Canelo IMO who uses judges, his chin and the A-side to seek victory.
Competitive. Edge to Bivol, imo. I could see the fight being more competitive than it is close. A travesty that we won't see the fight made in time for it to have the significance it should. A stain on all involved.
