Have to agree with your initial thoughts Rummy - Bivol's shelling up and inactivity in the championship rounds did not do him any favours and the optics certainly favoured Beterbiev, even even Bivol has a decent shout for round 12 on cleaner better shots.

I stopped really scoring middle rounds but on initial viewing has:-

Bivol - 1,2,3,7,8,9
Beterbiev - 4,5,6,10,11,12

I feel Bivol used up a fair amount of energy early with nervous movement and - credit to Arthur - neglected is jab 1/2 reset strategy for spells of the fight where I felt he should have been breaking up Arturs offense more, especially in 10-12

I definitely need to watch it again as there was a lot of subtlties in there, with great parrying & defence by BOTH fighters, although Bivol was more efficient in his output, with Artur looking for effective punches that were damaging - even if they were not clean.

The rematch would be a fascinating affair to see who makes the best adjustments etc

 

I agree wth yout take, close could go either way type foght. Thoight beterbiev won 8-5. Bting on the remstch!

 

IMO Bivol fought beautifully and took the 11th off due to fatigue. Bad optics, but AB took a bunch of half-rounds off until he got his 2nd wind. 12 was closer once again. How often did AB do nothing for 1:30 of the round? Maybe two in there at least.

 

.....and it was the 13th round that sealed it!

 

Didn't get the chance to watch the fight, looking forward to watching your video for a rundown Rummy.

Another good video Rummy. I had it 115-113 to Beterbiev after watching it today already knowing the result and to be honest I think I was swayed by so many saying Bivol won. I can see why one judge scored it 116-112 and I think Beterbiev deserves more credit than he is getting.

 

Yeah his performance after the knee surgery and at age 39 gets overlooked, especially those last 3 rounds cause of the robbery cries.

 

Bivol won rounds 1, 2, 7, 8, 9
Beterbiev win rounds 3, 4, 5, 6, 10, 11, 12
No robbery, decision was well deserved.

 

I don’t see what all the fuss is about I think Beterbiev is the clear winner.

I do think Kovalev won the first Ward fight though.

 

Great fight!. Thought it could have gone either way , depends what you look for as a judge. Two things bug me though. 12 rounds makes it too easy to score a draw. Make it 13. Also, I don't think guys should be allowed to fight with beards like that. Outside of possibly padding punches it can also irritate the other guys eyes. But it was a great night for boxing
