His only hope is age has caught up with Beterbiev
Did the Smith who fought Canelo look elite?

Meanwhile Beterbiev has a win again Usyk on his record...

This is what I'll never understand. How does a fight like this generate that kind of revenue? Presumably Beterbiev will be on more so let's say conservatively Smith $1m and Beterbiev $3m... It's on ESPN in the US, Sky Sports Arena here; the venue isn't sold out and although it had high-ish prices the gross can't be past $1.5m.

Surely this struggles to break even, given the undercard and presumably Top Rank taking its share?

US advertising I imagine. I work in the USA once a month usually and the adverts are insane here. Maybe the full purse is maybe 1-4M god knows really it’s all speculation.

No smith didn’t look elite that night I agree. But I didn’t say he was on the level of Canelo. I just think Beterbiev is overhyped to the level that everyone on social media automatically thinks he wins because they watched a 60 second highlight reel. Beterbiev only has size over Canelo he’s nowhere near his level skills wise.

I see this as a 50/50 but I will be honest my predictions can be awful!!

Social media seems split from what I've seen. Many posts think all Smith has to go is throw a left hook and he wins

I'm not sold on Smith at all.
He was a weight bully for most of his career then came unstuck big time against Canelo

Oh give over with the Usyk comment. That's amateur and many many years ago. He lost the last time he faced Usyk when they both were more experienced.

Beterbiev is most definitely an elite fighter, or at least was before he started declining. So many people seem to think he's all about power and criminally underrate his boxing ability.

I think he'd have beaten Bivol 3 years back personally but think father time is catching up to him now. Not many pro fights but had a very long amateur career and is 39 years old.

I could easily be wrong but I can just see it. Betwrbiev is open when attacking in my opinion. We’ve all seen him hurt, Smith is bigger with better hand speed and carries naughty power.
I agreee with everyone’s opinions about the Canelo fight that q was a terrible showing for a man with massive height and reach advantages but I feel this won’t be the same. Yarde had Beterbiev worried a bit and he’s not a **** stain on Smith.

Smith needs to stamp authority early, centre ring long levers whip that counter left hook in head and body do not let the stone face eastern man get into rhythm.

100% agree. He still has everything to win this though. Let’s be honest he should be a cruiser weight. Also, let’s be honest you’re not a weight bully if you can make the weight, you’re just lucky to not be drained whereas all the short areas are. Anybody would do the same.

Cuts ring off great with educated pressure. Heavy handed, but leaves himself open and hurtable.

Yeah agreed mate. I've backed Smith for the upset here but I certainly wouldn't be against a prime version despite him always being there to hit. He does seem particularly open to that left hook that Callum throws extremely well though.

His footwork is excellent and like you say he's very good at cutting the ring off. Also excels at regaining the centre of the ring if ever in trouble on the ropes or in the corner. Did this repeatedly in the Yarde fight.

I agree with your assessment too that Smith has to come in super aggressive to have a chance of scoring the upset. If he tries to fight long and cautious to wait for an opening then I think he won't be able to reverse it once Beterbiev takes control and he'll get stopped eventually.

Buzzing for this fight. Think it'll be really entertaining.

Me too mate. Good points. Very rare i am up for fights in the last few years, the sport has lost its sparkle for me but I’m really up for this! Proper fight.

I am not saying Beterbiev can beat Usyk now but if you are saying he is overhyped then what is Smith?
Who has Smith beat? An injured Groves?
He is a weight bully who has knocked out a lot of bums.
When it came to Canelo the bigger man turned into a mouse
