Atlas said gvosdyk had to fight perfect to win... but he made mistakes in every rounds, even round 1 even the rounds gvosdyk clearly won mistakes were made. As many people here feel beterbiev has 0 technical skills, his distance was great. he was hurt maybe twice during the fight and there was no follow up either time. Gvosdyk fought like a Lucian Bute with much poorer Balance his head was more forward than his feet... his body was so square. He also looked like a deer in headlights. really he SHOULD be better than Beterbiev but he was scared and maybe MAYBE. the Adonis Stevenson thing had something to do with it.
If you look at the punch stats and did not factor in the damage that was being done by Beterbiev's heavier shots I can see how someone could have had the fight 5-4 Beterbiev entering the 10th.
??? He didn't want to fight on the inside at all. Betebriev forced him by breaking his body down and beating his ass when he tried to clinch.
I saw Beterbiev moving backward in that fight... It just seems that Gvozdyk was commited to work inside, I don't think he was broken to the body. He just made strategic mistake. A very aggressive fight for Gvozdyk. He finally paid the price in the latter rounds. This is what I saw. * what I mean by inside is, being within the opponent range to receive shots.
6 to 3 for Gvozdyk is too wide, but 5 to 4 is quite reasonable if you ask me. That one judge wasn't giving Beterbiev a fair shake but he would be overruled by the other 2 anyway. If there had been 2 judges with 6 to 3 then I would have agreed with you, but even if Gvozdyk had made it out of the 10th and survived the 11th and 12 after, things were beyond judges' repair anyway.
I've seen boxers survive worse. It's unlikely but possible. Khan did it (with a little help from the ref) Bradley did it twice (once with a little help from the ref) Wilder did it (with a little help from the ref) .... there's a pattern here when you have the referee on your side though
I had Gvozdyk up going into the 10th; I seem to be in the heavy minority on this. FWIW I scored the 1st round to him because that KD was bull****. I know others were later ruled a slip but the channel I watched it on didn't gratify me with any replays so I stuck with official's decision on those instances. I thought Gvozdyk had a lot of success and thought off the back foot pretty effectively. After round 5, the ending was very clear to me as it takes A LOT to keep Beterbiev off of you and that was shown in the eventual ending of the fight. Maybe I'll watch it again seeing as it was like 4am my time
I suppose one could arrive at that card. But anything beyond that in his favor is either ineptitude or pure corruption.
For me that 9th round was a 10-8 to artur he was battering him and there wasn’t anything coming back from Gvodzyk.
skill level was insane, can only think some think Berterbiev ain't that skilled cause he's flat footed.Course they would be wrong.
Coming forward doesn't mean working on the inside. Gvozdyk was going forward to push Beterbiev back, but getting out of range or holding when he got on the inside.
