And Tua should've gotten the decision over Ike.

Sam was almost even to beat Vitali and considered prime, while Vitali wasn't. That's revisionism.

Klitschko was a +175 betting favorite. Peter was also 10lbs heavier than he fough Wlad 3 years earlier and 7lbs heavier than when he fought Wlad for the second time in 2010. He was out of shape for this one.

If Sanders boxed, Tua is getting nowhere.

Chisora's better than post-Wlad Peter. Mutual opponents (Helenius, Vitali, Pulev) make it clear given the similar styles. Chisora also has better wins (Takam, Pulev 2, Joyce, Wallin, Scott vs McCline, Toney 1, Toney 2, Maskaev, Shufford).

Sanders never proved to be more than a three round fighter above Puritty level but he was very dangerous and coming off an ATG win.

It's questionable whether Ike beat Tua. Many had it a draw or Tua win. Ike went to hospital hearing spirits after and quit the sport a couple of years later.

Byrd was skilled but a blown-up SMW/LHW who couldn't lay a glove on Wlad, yet he gave Ike significant difficulty for as long as it lasted.

You can argue it however you like. But Vitali has the far superior legacy and was the better fighter.

Vitali beating Peter like that was impressive after such a long layoff tbf. Peter perhaps wasn't at his best like he was 2-3 years earlier but Vitali himself was 37 years old and coming off injuries.

Probably deserves a bit more credit as does he for his comeback in general.

Ike deserved to beat Tua 7 rounds to 5 he won the first 4 or 5 rounds and built up too much of an early lead it would've kind of crazy for someone to break the compubox record and not win a decision.

Byrd also had a weeks notice vs Vitali.

I'm seeing the same line, but can only find it on a single site. Wlad was an underdog for Peter.

And you already know my theory on that regardless Byrd went to Vitali’s backyard with a weeks notice and got a W against him.

Vitali never perused a rematch even though Byrd would've been the best win on his resume.

Wlad might have been an underdog in 2005. He wasn't in 2010. Vitali wasn't either.

Because Byrd made him swing at air and injure himself.

His reign was subpar tho. Fighting second and third tier heavyweights.

Byrd was difficult for every opponent he faced not named Wlad to be fair. He gave Vitali fits as well, making him miss, tore his shoulder and quit. On 2 weeks notice.

True. Stylistically though I don't think Vitali has a controversial 50-50 life and death with Tua.

Wlad fought more of the good fighters the division in that timeframe in fairness. But I think coming back after a long layoff that Peter win deserves more credit.
