Better All-Around Fighter: Primo Carnera or Riddick Bowe?

It makes a good story, but it almost certainly didn't happen.

 

It happened and was verified . Now I'm leaving this thread which I should not have joined in the first place,because it just makes the gorge rise in my throat.

Complete package, lacking durability and power, to be effective @ SHW?

@janitor : I´m really not interested bashing on you anymore at one go with all the others, not fair and not cool.
But do you honestly read, or are aware of your own posts? Your basically telling here Carneras limits depended on talent, rather than style, advising other SHWs imitating Carneras way of fighting instead of Bowes?
Are you sincere conscious of what you´re watching?

Technically complete, as in nothing missing anything in terms of his technique, but less natural talent than Bowe.

There is no contradiction in what I am saying.

 

Based on what I've seen, you're right. Carnera was technically more correct but Bowe was the more natural fighter.

 

Thats far from beeing a "complete package." Disagreeing in Carneras pure lack of chin and power, i stand by what I said :

"Are you sincere conscious of what you´re watching?" In therms of a technical standpoint!!!! Against SHW size opponents!

I am afraid that I have to regard it a s a technical weakness, that Bowe simply throws away his reach advantage, and fights smaller men on the inside.

Yes Carnera is unequivocally more technically correct for a big man fighting smaller men!

But Carnera didn't have the skill to fight tall and rangy against a guy like Holyfield. He would have been heavy bagged around the ring. Not like Bowe who had the technical ability to be able to fight in close against smaller guys.

I´d say its an attempt of straightening out all the nonsense stated so far. I´d even say the opposite is true: Carneras H2H-value did not suffer that much from heaving a medicore chin (getting through fire with Baer and Louis for rounds. For example like Joe Frazier could keep himself up) or lacking power due to not landing very well using his weight. Its actually the technical lack of


- movement, beeing extremely ponderous, not able to the keep proper distance establishing the jab
- no proper headmovement that you´ll find watching Bowe in the link above
- wasting energy by throwing punches out of position, badly loosing his balance
- not keeping the right hand in place while throwing a jab (what you learn as absolue amateur basic today)
- "grabbing" the punch, instead of flicking it, what also learn after some amateur hours today
- not throwing technical hooks or uppercuts where they might belong
- punching techn. in general
- wiggling with his arms when beeing hit instead of learning to keep calm and stay defensively focused. I´d even say he does not react usual for a professional getting tagged.

Bowe throws away his distance establishing the jab, but Carnera looks better on his feet doing that? We were talking about fighting bigger SHWs. As stated with all the flaws above:

Or just trying to find away out of your embarrassment ??

 

He would last longer against Holyfield doing things his way, than he would doing things Bowe's way!
