Better All Around Fighter: Riddick Bowe or Vitali Klitschko?

Pretty much. It's one of those things where as a fan it's not a satisfying conclusion like a ten count or the ref stopping a helpless opponent on the ropes, but it had to be done due to the state of his face.

If not, it could have caused serious damage to his eye and endangered his career. It could have made him very cut-prone and he'd wind up losing future fights on cuts to some of the much inferior opponents he ended up facing. So it was the right call. The cut was grotesque. Laughably, some people actually claimed "it was a nick on the eye". You must be sadists to have wanted to see it continue.

I remember some old guy over at the scene saying "the pics were proof that Vitali's eye was just a tiny cut"

No outcome would have surprised me at that point. Lewis was tired as hell, he slumped on his stool. Klitschko was not exactly a ball of energy either, he ate some big shots in the 6th, that big uppercut, and the short right hand up close which had Vitali falling over Lewis.
