Watch again. Sanders was landing well in the first. After that Klitschko realised that it would not do to trade with Sanders and adopted a more defensive mindset. Sanders struggled to land clean after that. That said, I agree Sanders should have trained with Nacho instead of Dustin Nichols  His condition was not what it should have been.

I doubt it. Bowe was dead easy to hit and anybody that was easy to hit wasn't going to enjoy fighting Sanders.

Galindez was bleeding like an abbatoir and still beat Kates to a pulp. That said, those years seem to have been more tolerant of bloodbaths in the ring. I already said that if I were in the doc's shoes I would likely have stopped it too.

Hater nothing. I reckon you could make a case for Lewis being a top 3 ATG HW. On resume Vitali I don't think is top 10. However, it's also fair to note that Lennox's career did benefit from some rather strategic choices of who to fight or not to fight, and when.

"I have a lot of respect for Vitali," says Sanders "Perhaps I had too much for him when we fought.

Instead of focusing on my fight, I allowed him to dictate and paid the price for it. I did shake him early on, but never capitalized on it. During the fight I realized, what I should have done to beat him, but it was too late. If we were to fight again, I'm convinced I could win."

Vitali wore Sanders down with body shots and hard shots to the head. Sanders, like the rest of Vitali's opponents had trouble reaching and timing him.

Im not wrong.. Sanders was blowing out his ass after 4 rounds. He couldn't even keep his hands up he was so knackered. All technique and any real boxing ability he had went out the window cos all he was able to do was throw wild swings hoping to connect.
Thats exactly how the fight played out. Sanders had no business being in championship ring that night.

Sanders had no trouble at all nailing Vitali before his 38 year old , unconditioned and un-trained body ran out of gas.
Prime Sanders vs Vitali is a 50/50 fight.

I could see a marked difference in how Vitali was fighting after the first. He was much more cautious and Sanders found it harder to land on him. Corrie's conditioning was crap, I'm not denying it, but what Vitali was doing was clearly affecting the fight.

I am not sure you understand what you are watching. It was Lewis who hurt Vitali on the inside. Vitali can not fight on the inside period and it seems strange you are even arguing this point. Frankly that does not speak for your boxing expertise.

lewis gave him a beating on the inside, vitali was clueless- held for dear life.

imagine what a prime bowe would do to him on the inside?

hell, even golota inside would rip him to pieces

Lewis does OK on the inside. Bowe is a master on the inside period.

Bowe would tear Vitali a new one on the inside, that much is clear.

I don't really need to watch it again. At 38, inactive and out of shape, Sanders was relying on his early power to take control of the fight and win it. Not the best strategy, at the best the times but, a strategy, nonetheless.

Even after round 1, I'm fairly comfortable that Sanders remained an offensive threat, until the steam went out of his punches by the midpoint. He was gassed very early and his work became ragged just as quickly. Vitali wasn't even in range for some, if not all, of Sanders' wild swings. Yet, Sanders was still able to catch Vitali, in subsequent rounds with good shots.

I just couldn't say that I noticed a particularly "defensive mindset' reflected in Vitali's work that night.

I don't. That version of Sanders had very little to offer. Bowe, with his best on display, would have finished it much earlier.

And yet Sanders said "He has an awkward style and was difficult to hit."

LOL, Bowe couldn't "finish it" early against Pierre Coetzer who ranks much lower on the scale of SA boxers and who was a featherfist compared to Sanders, and who landed plenty enough punches on RB. Sanders would have punched a hole into Bowe's face. If Bowe won against Sanders, he would have come out of it looking different to how he went in.
