So now you're offering advice to posters, about how to argue their point! Jesus... how condescending is it possible to be?

Lou Nova was nothing special, even in his own day.

Galento had one punch, the instincts to use it and unbridled toughness. Against classier operators, tho, he would have been creamed and forced to an exit on his shield.

    Could have done, but didn't!

    We have this scenario basically:

Fighter A lost to a row of bums early in his career, but beat a couple of ranked contenders, including the current #1.

Fighter B was very impressive against tomato cans, and fringe contenders, but generally lost when he stepped up against somebody in the top ten.

The final verdict of history lies with A!

Argue it how you want, but if you call Galento's controversial wins into question, then I would obviously have to respond in kind!

I assume you’re only talking about resume quality, since this most certainly doesn’t tell us who’s the better fighter. There are so many different ways to evaluate a fighter’s resume that I don’t have any arguments with whatever approach you use.

Btw, is Fighter A supposed to be Galento? If so, it’s not a very accurate description, as Tony was still losing to very unimpressive fighters well into his career.

On what basis did you conclude that Galento was a better all-around fighter than Tua?

There is a difference between a foul fest and one moment where an opponent is suddenly struck after the bell. If you want to put Tua’s win on the negotiation table fine remove that win for him and remove the Galento win over Nova.
I still stand by my premise that Tua was a far superior fighter to Galento.
I don’t think it’s close. In fact I think it’s ludicrous to suggest otherwise. I’m glad the poll agrees with my sentiment.

Nova got a lot of ink with his yoga and cosmic punch in reality he was nothing special and proved it when he got in there with Louis.Tua would decapitate Nova.

Galento lost to nobodies when he was in his prime too!
Let's look at some of the guys who beat him.

Carnera's sparring partner Neil Clisby stopped Galento.
    Al Friedman30-29-5 beat him.
    Jack Dorval beat him.
    James Lawless 1-2-0 beat him.
    Johnny Alberts beat him.
    Obie Walker beat him.
Jack Gagnon beat him,he had won 1 of his last 5 fights!
    Natie Brown 12-12-3 beat him.
    Harold Mays32-13-0 beat him.
    Marty Gallagher 36-21-5 stopped him.
    Eddie Mader 33-19-4 beat him.
    Al Delaney beat him.
Al Gainer a light heavyweight stopped him.
Don Petrin a light heavyweight who had lost his last 5 fights beat him.
Bob Tow who had lost 3 of his last 5 beat him.
Do you see Tua losing to these men?

Don C. was once ranked #2 by The Ring. I don't believe Tua ever got higher than #3.

In other words, Don got closest to the summit… so he must be the better all-around fighter, right?

Tua was the definitely the better all round fighter. However Galento mindset was different. He fought a formidable Champ in Joe Louis and though badly outclassed he never stop trying and went down swinging even flooring Louis before taking a frightening battering.
Tua on the other hand fought a equally formidable Champ in Lewis and after being hit by a big right hand early he went into a shell and just tried to survive.
