I think in a toe to toe fight Cotto beats him to the punch and has better defense.

Ok so it was a push, cool. But Cotto was still wobbly on more than one occasion in that fight and others. Williams has enough Power though, but even taking him out the equation, The shots Margo took from Santos alone shows his tremendous chin.

Both have great arsenals but I'd give the edge to Cotto all round.

Off subject ... Margarito has never beat someone as schooled as Cotto ... when he stepped up (Santos) he lost ...

Cotto is a ****ing Olympian ... he's groomed to beat guys like Margarito ...

Cotto throws straighter punches ... has better movement ... better jab and better side to side movements.

You can contribute that to his schooling and amateur pedigree.

Very true and at the same time Cotto, although groomed, has not fought someone as big as Margo. Someone who bring constant pressure that will only increase as the rounds go on, a relentless attack. Thats why the fight is expected to be a GREAT fight. It will be a true test for both of them.

Kelson Pinto was 5'11 ... and if you get good quality sparring the height won't mean ****.

At times Margarito gives up his height ...

Outside of Santos & Cintron ... who has Margarito fought who has a name ... or who has held a welterweight championship before?

But Pinto didn't bring half the pressure that Margo puts on his opponents. And your right about Margo giving up his size at times. and in time Margo catches fighters who try to play it safe on the outside by using that reach.

Do you think it will be an easy fight for Cotto?

    Yes ...

Margarito will come forward in straight lines ... so if Cotto wants to get on his toes and box he can.

Margarito doesn't know how to fight going backwards so Cotto also has the option of backing Margarito up (ala Pavlik v Miranda)

Margarito isn't great at cutting off the ring .... he gives up his height at times and doesn't throw power punches.

His pressure is ineffective ... he has the inability to throw straight punches.

He has zero head and or shoulder movement ...

True again Fitz, Margo was avoided for a long time not being able to get the better opposition to polish up his resume. Thats why he is coming int this fight very hungry. He has plenty of technical flaws that are attributed to fighting the lesser guys. But lets not deny the man his strengths and advantages that will give Cotto some dangerous opposition.

Add to that ... he's slow footed ... average hand speed ... most people are talking about his right uppercut ... but he's discipline with his uppercuts ... he throws them from a far and telegraphs his punches ....
