Just curious to see if there is a consensus opinion on this.

Well lets judge it this way, both men fought Mayorga... the one Oscar fought was closer to his prime and Oscar absolutely destroyed him and Mayorga apologized to everything he said prior after getting beat down. The Cotto fight obviously didnt go down like that.

Honestly Oscar was better at the time, better jab, taller, more power, more speed, better chin, better defense... they both had bad stamina. But Oscar at 154 > Cotto 154. Oscar vs Margo at 154 absolutely outboxes him, I would be surprised if he KO's him, earlier than Cotto got the stoppage due to Margo's eye.

Floyds win over Oscar is very underrated. that same Oscar @ 154 would beat almost all of the Jr. Middleweights of today.

ODLH had probably lost as much or more in H2H cred from his best by the time and place he fought Money than Miguel but even at that he's still better at 154 than current Cotto, in my estimation. ODLH has become a very underrated fighter. He's simply bigger, stronger, more disciplined, smarter and more durable by this time than Cotto is now and prime for prime I don't know as there is anything Cotto would have on him at all either. And Cotto's still a very good fighter. I don't dispute that. I look for him to make a good early account of himself and then the difference in physicality between yesterday's ODLH and today's Cotto will become a major issue in the negative for Miguel. I think Mayweather will as likely as not walk Cotto down. Something he wasn't at all keen on doing with Oscar. A strategy I think he knew couldn't work with him but may see as perfect for Cotto. If I'm wrong and it's more competitive than I think it will be, I'll be happy, with my wrongness. :yep

Cotto is diminished, but ODLH was a shadow of his former self when he fought Floyd.

Don't be ridiculous. Nobody outside Cotto's immediate family thinks Miguel has any chance against a prime DLH. The question is how much of DLH was left by the time he fought Floyd, and the answer is 'not much'. Cotto is playing out the end of his string but he def has more in the tank than Oscar did.

Green: :blood I wasn't being ridiculous. Because I didn't say they did or he would.

Blue: No, the question wasn't that. The question was who is/was the better boxer at 154. That DLH or today's Cotto. Let's not call me ridiculous then not understand what the question was.

White: :conf Maybe. Maybe not. Things might end up looking differently. They tend to do that in retrospect, no?
