Freddie Roach said once that he has to be careful and tell Manny to stop because he is the type of person who will over train.
But they are both elite athletes and you cannot split them on this for me.

Both guys hard training tremendous atheletes with different attributes. This is the utlimate fight of two guys with very good respective styles in their own rights. Can the speed and activity of Pac offset the technical mastery of Mayweather JR??

Floyd ... this guy has the most unorthodox training regimine ... he will run at odd hours of the day ... he owns his own boxing gym and has access to any training facility in the city of las vegas. He goes to the 24 hr fitness gym, he can open the doors to his gym whenever he wants, and he runs at odd times.

Demarcus "chop chop" Corely said that he and Floyd went to the club one night and after the club, Floyd went in his trunk put on some boots and ran 6 miles.

I'm sure after Pacquiao beat Cotto he went out and ran 8 miles and went to the gym.

Floyd spars 15-20 min rounds and often switches sparring partners during the process ... he trains for a 15 round fight and he doesn't exert much energy during a fight.

During the win over Hatton, I remember seeing Floyd in the corner between rounds & he looked so immaculate that if you took the gloves off, he could have said he had just come from a party! Floyd never appears to get tired!

Both are exceptional, but the key factor is that Pacquiao probably gets more out of condition & puts on more weight than is the case with Floyd! The story that DeMarcus Corley tells about Floyd running six miles after going to a nightclub speaks for itself!

Mayweather runs at like midnight, 1AM.

There needs to be a thread to see who would win one on one in a basketball game, i'm sure that would be a great match up ... both guys are fast, both have ups for being so small and both are pretty decent for boxers.

I might give the edge to the more natural point guard Pacquiao !!

I would say they are equal athletes.

Roach is by far the better trainer and I do not think Manny would have made it this far without him. (And I am not hating on Manny - I love the guy).

Mayweather has always been known for being a diehard gym rat and constantly staying in shape. He is also an excellent athlete.

However, in light of how much Pacquiao has improved, I would see he is an equally great athlete but has received SUPERIOR performance and athletic training. Roach bring in Ariza was the greatest thing he could do for Manny.

"old school" training principles, are effective but not the BEST way to train. They are the simplest though, and that is why they predominate in the sport

Ariza though is a highly certified Athletic Trainer with expert knowledge in nutrition and applicable performance enhancement.

While Mayweather might train as hard or harder, Pacquiao trains SMARTER

I give Pacquiao and Roach the edge
