Ok both are fantastic champions, approach fights in different way but very effective.

Take away all of your pre judgments, culture , even skin colour thoughts (if you wish).

Then tell me who the better boxer is. Not power , size , just pure boxing skills.

Who is it and more importantly why.

    Peace.

Kovalev due to the fact that he doesn't have to rely on clinching, headbutts and grappling to beat his opponents.

    Ward.

He is faster, better defensively and has a more rounded game. He can fight at all ranges and can fight coming forward or backing up.

This doesn't mean that he will win. Kovalev, whilst having less dimensions to his game than Ward, is very good at what he does. Skill wise, for me, Kovalev is C+, but he has very good timing and judges distance well. Add in his power, reach and great jab and he does potentially have the tools to beat the quicker and more skilful, but less powerful and smaller Ward.

I think with every fight, even against someone wild and dangerous like Pascal or someone crafty as hell as hopkins, you hear people say, wow, kovalev has really underrated footwork or an underrated jab or underrated skill or patience, ring intelligence, timing/speed etc. I think after Ward, you'll be hearing the same thing. As well as, that's why they call him the Krusher.

Krusher (by KO after a dominating boxing clinic).

Listen here Sergey KRUSHER Kovalev has enough skill to land on ward.

ward will need to hurt Kovalev to stop him from bringing the pain.

Ward wont nullify All of Kovalevs offense.

Ward from a purely technical and skill stand point is the better boxer. His footwork is sublime, he's the best infighter in the game at the moment and he's shown he can adapt mid fight.

But Kovalev has the great equalizer in his power and he's more than just a big puncher, his variety of shots, his accuracy and even his footwork make him more than just some crude slugger. Though Kovalev won't have it all his own way when he faces Ward, he will be asked some serious questions. But will it be enough to overcome the greater skills of Ward, we'll have to wait and see.

Kovalev is better on the outside, Ward is better on the inside.

Both incredibly good at what they do.

TBH it's a dream match up. Sure hope I get to see this one before there both nearly 40.

Thats a good question but difficult to answer at this time as they are both good at certain things they do.
Ward has yet to face a top undefeated fighter or undefeated champ with that undefeated will to win

What top undefeated fighter has Kovalev faced??

Compare resumes and tell who has faced better comp.:deal

There is ONE puncher on Kovalev's resume...and that's Darnell Boone.

It's been so long since I've seen Ward fight that I really couldn't say.
