Better 'Boxing for MMA': Anderson Silva or Vitor Belfort?

Vitor is more skilled, has better punching technique, put his punches together in combinations very well.... accurately...
Anderson is more naturally gifted, with amazing speed and reflex....

 

Belfort. His handspeed is incredible and he really only boxes whereas Silva would miss the knees, kicks and elbows.

 

Well, Anderson´s reach would be a problem for Vitor....but I think Vitor would be able to counter Anderson.......

by the way, I really think Vitor was expecting that opportunity to counter with his hands........but that awesome kick was very surprising to him....

 

Well, let's break it down by category.

Jab- Silva, hands down. Silva pumps his jab like a piston and several times it alone knocked iron-chinned Leben off-balance. Belfort paws a rangefinder jab that's more of a distraction than anything.

Combination punching- Belfort. Silva has sick combinations as evidenced by the second Franklin fight but those combinations include everything from punches to elbows to knees to low kicks and I can't recall really seeing him unload like that solely with punches. Belfort's handspeed and combinations are the stuff of legend.

Defense- Belfort has almost no head movement aside from this little side-to-side thing he does and when he's in the pocket his Chin is all up in the air begging for a counter. Most of the time, however, his speed covers it up. Silva's defense is extraordinary as we've seen with a career in which one has to struggle to remember times we've seen him hit flush. Silva all day.

Footwork- Belfort is a stalking plodder, Silva is a fleet footed dancer. Silva has no takedown defense but his footwork is so deft that he's kept most superior takedown artists at bay simply by virtue of not being in one place long enough for them to set up a power shot all the while he's constantly potshotting them from nasty counter angles. Silva.

Power- Even. Both guys absolutely melt nearly whatever they hit and both have proven KO power at 185 AND 205.

I think Silva has the better skills but I'd love to see them slug it out under Marquess of Queensberry Rules with 4 oz'ers.

 

When it comes to Anderson, expect the unexpected. Expect the unbelievable. Expect a flash of genius

Despite what paper and "stylistic disadvantages" may say, Anderson would beat Jon Jones

 

You can call me a fanboy if you must but I think Jon Jones would run through Anderson like he was nothing. Think Anderson's fight with Chael Sonnen except with the best GnP in the LHW division.

 

vitor has definetly better boxing hands than anderson however anderson with his reactions and unorthodox striking and dodging makes him good however hands down the better fighter is anderson silva.

 

Anderson is much more better and more ortodox boxing than belfort.The only one advantage I see for Vitor is his power, the rest is vastly overrated.Even his chin is ****.
