you forget that anderson silva wanted to beat Troll sonnen via submission as chael said some very disrespectful **** about the nog brothers and their blackbelts.
he lost to overeem twice, lost to randy twice and tito ortiz every opponent that was in top competition has defeated him.
bull**** i believe everyone is overestimating how great jon jone's wrestling capabilities are he is good however not great i see rashad beating him by UD or anderson killing him via tko or k.o. Anderson is P4P best stand up fighter in the world and i dont see jon jones being able to punish anderson the way troll sonnen did.
Silva is more flamboyant with his work where as Vitor is stronger on fundamentals/technique. Silva wants to move his head with his hands low and catch you with flashy counters. Vitors chin is down, hands up, move into position and throw good, solid punches that **** your world up. I'd edge it to Vitor because prior to his mind collapsing someone like Chael Sonnen wouldn't get to him and make his stand up look weak. More likely is he'll **** your world up even if you are a competent fighter/striker i.e. Silva, Lindland, Franklin, Akiyama etc Vitor was probably my first love in MMA. Perfect fighter for a boxing fan to make the transition.
I wont call you a fanboy bro, everyones entitled to their opinion, and most on here seem to pick Jones in this superfight
I don't buy this for a single nanosecond, despite my affection for Anderson Silva. No way in hell did he let Sonnen hold him down and pound him for 23 and a half minutes just so he could sneak a sub in at the death. This is complete fantasy. :nono
If the fight ever happens, you'll see how wrong you are then. Jones KO1 Rashad on the feet, Jones TKO Anderson Silva on the floor. In particular, this statement makes no sense at all: None. :nono
He has one real KO loss where he was KO for real and that was against Anderson one was to cuts and the other was to Randy Couture
styles are so far apart its hard to pick one, although i reckon vitor has the better boxing for mma although i reckon anderson would win a marques of queensberry fight
You have to remember that Tito is in fact a muscled up 185 pounder. When a fighter goes lower in weight and is successful the OLDER he gets then that is a sure sign that his previous weight was incorrect. Reem and Ortiz are big guys. Liddell, Henderson, Silva, Couture and Sakuraba are legit top of the food chain losses. Silva, Yvel, Herring, Eastman, Lindland, Franklin and Akiyama are good wins. Plus he was competative with Liddell, Ortiz etc His mindset was the problem. He always had the ability to be versatile from the start but he would limit himself. It was nice to see him kicking against Akiyama.
I don't think the Chael fight is a very good measurement of how a Jones/Silva fight would go. Silva had a cracked rib going into the fight and as someone who has grappled with a cracked rib before, I can tell you that it restricts a lot of your movement and breathing. Had Silva been injury free I think the fight would be very different. As for predicting how a Jones/Silva fight would go, I think theres still too many question marks surrounding Jones to make a decisive prediction. I believe Jones could and would take Silva down, but Silva has far better BJJ than anyone Jones has faced at this point in his career and it would be interesting to see how he'd respond to Silva's ground game. Jones cardio is also questionable. He faded towards the second half of the Stefan Bonnar fight and was breathing very hard against Shogun. We really have no idea how he'd fare in the championship rounds versus Silva, one of the most durable fighters in the history of the sport. Furthermore, Jones' chin has barely ever been touched let alone tested. I believe its too early in Jones' career to make him the favorite against Silva.
my thoughts as well :good popkins - you nonchalantly throw in the sonnen fight as an example of how poor silva is against wrestlers.... yet make no mention of the rib? yet you're all too quick to point out just how much injuries play a part, and how wrecked Shotgun was going into the Coleman, Griffin and Jones fight, yet not a single mention of Andersons injury?
