Pacquiao has no defense at all ... he might have avoided some punishment his last few fights but lets not forget how he was busted up against Marquez ...

outside of Pac's speed what does he have? ... he lunges in when he punches and often times his back foot is off the ground. He squares up to his opponents often ... he doesn't know how to fight going backwards ... only good punches he has is the straight left and the double right jab and maybe (if his opponents left him) the right hook ... Cotto has the left jab, left hook, left uppercut, right hand hook, straight, and looping.

Cotto can also fight going backwards ... he also has good balance ... something taught to you in boxing 101 and you get better at those things in the amateurs ...

Cotto was in the olympics ... he's more fundamentally sound than Pacquiao who's amateur experience is limited.

Pacquiao is just a physically gifted fighter ... technically, fundamentally, and overall boxing ability goes to Cotto.

    Listing punches means nothing though.

Pacquiao has never been soundly outboxed by anyone (say what you want, but the two Marquez fights were close as hell).

Cotto was losing on points when he was BRUTALLY stopped by Margarito because this "technically sound" boxer had NO IDEA HOW TO DEFEND HIMSELF AGAINST A C-CLASS SLUGGER.

Cotto went life and death with another C-class fighter in Joshua Clottey, as basic and one-dimensional a boxer as you are ever likely to see in a world title fight.

Pacquiao boxes rings round guys the calibre of Margarito and Clottey.

    This is ludicrous.

Both these guys boxing skills is poor. Both fighters are unable to fight on the back foot and box which suggest to me that their boxing skills are limited. Cotto did show his boxing skills in the Mosley fight. More than I thought he had. But to be honest I think he had a good night as nothing Ive seen since proved to me that this guy is naturally talented.

As for pac skills, please this guy skills are limited at best. However what he does have which is quick reflexes and herculian power is second to none. But dont any of you dare compare pac skills to the likes of pernell whitikar, sugar ray leonard, roy jones jr or a floyd mayweather jr because you will be talking out ur arse.

You don't know what you're talking about ... Pacquiao was outboxed for 11 straight rounds in the first fight against Marquez ... and he was outboxed by Morales in the first fight ... he can't box ... he's just fast and as well all know in boxing speed kills. He never has fought a defensive minded boxer and he's never faced a fighter that can match him physically ... he cannot and will not fight Cotto on the inside.

Clottey isn't a C-level fighter and he's not one dimensional ... how can you say anything bad about championship level fighters?

Punching is boxing 101, so is balance, and so is movement ... its not all about speed and physicality.

Arturo Gatti had better boxing skills than Pacquiao !!

Pacquiao is not a great boxer ... he's a great fighter but not a great boxer.

People think Pacquiao has no skills because he doesn't conform to the conventional mould of the slick, skilled counterpuncher.

This is nothing but idiotic prejudice.

It's such a reductive way of looking at boxing.

Pacquiao may not utilize a Philly Shell or a flashy shoulder-roll, but that's not the only definition of 'skill' in a boxing ring.

Great footwork and movement is skill. Being able to hit body and head quickly and move back out of range is skill.

Pacquiao has moved on tremendously from his 2003-2005 self. Open your eyes.

JMM won more rounds than Pacquiao did and if you look at the stats ... out of the 24 rounds Marquez won 70% of them ... but its a different story when you factor in 4 knockdowns ... thats 4 points and a 4 rounds difference - hence the draw and the decision win.

Exactly. It boggles the mind why people don't realize this. Put Marquez in with a great athlete with no skills, and Marquez knocks him the **** out. JMM is far too skilled to not be able to spark someone who is all physique and zero skill.

Cotto has never been outboxed, but he has been out slugged. Pac has been out boxed, but never out slugged. Cotto can fight inside, Pac can't. Skill set the same imo. Cotto better schooled, Pac more talent. I'll take two fists over one. I'll say Emmanuel Dapidran has the edge imo because he has more weapons.

You don't know boxing if you think that Arturo Gatti doesn't have more skill that Pacquiao ... he didn't have alot of things but when it came down to it ... Arturo Gatti could box. He didn't always box but when he had the advantage he did box ...

Pacquiao has never fought anyone on the inside ... Cotto fights on a regular basis inside or out ... he has the ability to throw short accurrate punches ... can Pac do that?

    WHEN HAS PAC OUTBOXED SOMEONE?
