- Jeff Lacy was an overhyped never-was fighter. It could be argued that Calzaghe broke his confidence and that he was never the same afterwards; this same argument is made by Mayweather fans when comparing his win over Hatton versus Pacquiao's win over Hatton. - Roy Jones Jr., who was absolutely shot to pieces, had been brutally knocked out cold twice before his fight with Calzaghe and still managed to drop Joe. :think
Lacy was a better win because it meant unifying a title after a 10 year wait of not trying to do so. It was a wind of change for Calzaghe, he started doing more after that fight rather than fighting bums in Wales. the RJJ fight was a joke, but a very Calzaghe way to end his career,I suppose.
No it won't... Lacy was unheard of and almost lost to Omar Sheika.. Just because a couple of talking heads thought he was going to be the next big thing doesn't change the fact that he just wan't that good.
Jones was shot. Lacy now doesnt look like much but he was an undefeated fighter whom many favored over Calzaghe. Both wins arent worth much legacy wise but i would consider Lacy to be the better win and the better performance.
TBH, both wins suck balls . . . RJJ was pulled from the glue factory just before the fight. Lacy was SSSSSOOOO overhyped and overrated at the time absolutely no one can give him credit for that win. His best win was Kessler (which was a lot closer then some ******s on he make it out to be), only because he really lost to Bhop and Eubanks was weight drain and ready for retirement
