Definitely Louis. His quick jab, fierce combinations, body punching, and stalking would apply lots of pressure Fury isn't used to. Fury doesn't like someone else dictating the pace and would be annoyed at getting jabbed at. He had a big gut that would make it quite easy for Louis to target. Louis' ability to parry, time, and counter would disrupt Fury's rhythm. Finally, Louis methodical but vicious pace and quick hands would give Fury all kinds of trouble as he liked to slow the pace down and use his size to his advantage with lots of bullying, leaning, mauling, etc. Louis would have none of that and would light him like a Christmas tree if the ref did his job.

Dempsey is much more straightforward. Either he manages to blitz and stop Fury early, or he gets dragged into deep waters and is stopped or loses a decision to Fury. I have a hard time envisioning a smaller aggressive fighter beating Fury giving up so much weight and needing to work like hell to get inside.

It seems on this site they have some hidden videos of these basic type fighters from that long ago that they go off of cause what other reason is it they give those guys chances?, Its obviously not the same videos me you and others like us have seen of these guys...

Dempsey excelled at many of the advantages you give Louis here, body punching, combos, stalking etc. Louis and Dempsey while having overall different styles, both excelled in the same offensive skillsets (crosses, combos, counterpunching, pressuring etc). The only problem I have with Louis against Fury is, that Louis would basically come forward at his opponent in an upright stance and wasn't too quick on his feet (reminds me of Fury in this regard), and in a battle of two jabbers of this style, the longer-reached guy is gonna often do better. That being said, my money is on Louis beating Fury simply due to the skill disparity, but food for thought. Dempsey meanwhile was harder to hit due to his skillful, erratic body and head movement and his mobility, and these traits made him tough for larger opponents.

Dempsey beat top contender and prolific Knockout artist Fred Fulton in 17 seconds for starters, Besides Willard, he KO'd top contendors Carl Morris in one round, he beat top contender Gunboat Smith (Allegedly Jack Johnson ducked him in the later part of his title reign) and of course Firpo in 2. All pretty big guys besides Gunboat who was only 6'2. There's more, forgot his name but one of his first-round KO wins was against a 260 pound 6'5 dude. Most of Dempseys wins were against men bigger than him

Louis beat Primo Canera, while not an ATG, he was good with a hab, and had enough power to have an 88% KO ratio, and beat top contender Jack Sharkey, (past his prime). He beat 6'2 220 pound champ Max Baer (Basically if Wilder was Jewish). Ranked Charley Retzlaff was 6'3, and Louis KO'd him in 1

Of the two, Dempsey beat considerably more "giants".

Mike mastered it though not that similar, when you watch both, mike would destroy all of jacks opponents fast and never would struggle like jack did he never would lose thats how much better mike was at that style

No, Fury would not win the battle of jabs just because he was taller. Fury pawed with his jab and lacked speed/snap. Louis could fire it like a pistol and would sometimes take his head off the center line to bust a guy up. Fury sometimes takes his height for granted and doesn't use enough head movement confident that he can always bully a guy with his height and long reach. He just isn't quick and explosive enough to pop his jab out and beat Louis to the punch. Fury looks fast because he's mostly fighting against 240+ obese plodders and body builders.

I'm aware Dempsey has those skills and could have erratic movement. The issue is styles. Dempsey would be pressing forward aggressively almost constantly while Louis would be more methodical and patient. This Louis would be better suited to use those skills to break Fury down.

You can name LOTs but didn’t in fact name one..most other posters here go the hard yards and include facts and reference points in support of their argument…crazy I know…why let stuff like that jam up a good argument..

I rate Louis a decent chance vs Fury..in an absolutely clean and open fight..but it would never be so…either Fury pre meds to hold, lean and maul or he does same every time Louis rattles his brain.

That’s the greatest advantage of the superior size of the so called SHWs - to hold, lean on and maul their smaller, better skilled opposition…it’s not boxing per se but it is often the SHW’s go to….a real joy to watch, not.
