An argument could be made either way. Lennox suffered two Hail Mary ko losses to huge guys but Bowe did not fight many punchers, was almost flattened by Holyfield and was ko'ed multilevel tomes in the amateurs. Thoughts ?
Even though Lennox gets treated a bit harshly when it comes to chin checking I still have to pick Bowe, no doubt. Holyfield had him on ***** avenue but what if Lennox fought Holyfield like Bowe did? Lennox fought some bangers though, but his skills and cautious style were able to steer him clear of trouble.
Lewis had a **** chin, you don't go down with just one punch if you have a remotely respectable chin.
Lewis did have some good skills but his height and later on his extra weight were huge advantages which he used well
Bowe. He was taking several hard right hands from Holyfield in their second fight without getting hurt. He took Golota's best punches and was down only once. However, the only big punchers he faced were Tommy Morrison and Donovan Razor Ruddock in sparring and both Ruddock and The Duke knocked him out in those sessions.
Bowe had a granite chin, never knocked out, he took one of the more brutal beatings in history from Golota in both their fights and never stayed down. Lewis's chin wasn't as bad as its made out to be but he did get knocked out cold twice by beautiful right hands. Gotta go with Bowe.
Bowe had the better chin, in part proven because he had much worse defense, so he got it tested and hit cleanly and hard way more often. Lewis did not have as good a chin, but did not get it exposed as often because he was much more cautious and defensive and knew how to move, grab, pull heads down, cover, use his height and reach, etc. Yet, Lewis got KO'd twice as a pro, whereas Bowe never got KO'd. The fact that Bowe never got KO'd despite taking so many clean hard blows proves that he had the better chin.
It's hard to say seeing as Bowe did not fight McCall or Rahman, but Bowe did take a beating from Golata so I will give him the edge here.
