There were fights where Joe took a lot of hard punches.:yep

But I would say Froch has a better chin.

to say Calzaghe doesn't have a good chin is a lie, its good but not granite great. He can absorb lots of punches up to national level its when he steps up above that he gets floored a fair bit.

Its his recovery which is outstanding - on being put down he can get straight up as if nothing happened, and come back at you fast.

Froch has the better chin, no question, mind you, he takes international level damage and most of the time doesn't flinch or occasionally just (which must freak out opponents) just smiles.
Froch appears to take longer to recover than Calzaghe.

Man I think I said some of this earlier.

its a good chin, Vin, but not great, you seem to have not watched several Calzaghe fights when he got dropped stepping up beyond national level.

But your basic logic is correct, Joe needed that good chin to win fights when he was being outskilled or just plain survive a world class challenger (Robin Reid springs to mind, he was continually breaching Joe defence at will).

yeah that's another one, Joe wouldn't have survived Kesslers early onslaught if he didn't have a good chin. He was getting battered early on in that fight.

It was zghes defence which was a bit porous, not his chin.

See it's ****s like this who know very little about boxing who annoy me. Calzaghe was dropped only four times and fought more world champions than Froch did.

Let's remember Froch was droppedn badly by Taylor, hurt badly by Kessler, hurt badly vs Pascal, hurt badly vs Dirrell and put into a shell vs. Andre Ward. People go on like he has never been hurt, his chin is no better than Calzaghe's.

See this is bollecks. He was only ever dropped four times. In all of those fights he seemed to be disinterested and all of those knock downs were flash knock downs.

The only one he was really hurt by was the Jones one, which was at light heavy weight and was not caused by a punch, when Calzaghe was clearly past his peak.

Basically your a **** and YDKSAB.

That means nothing, a flash knockdown because you're off balance is not as bad as being like Khan vs. Maidana in round 10 is it?

Froch's resume is massively over rated, time should remember that. He was badly hurt vs. Dirrell as well.

See it is ******ed things like this which are annoying. Byron Mitchell was a former world champion coming off a split decision defeat in his opponents back yard (more than Andre Dirrell has ever done) Calzaghe got up and stopped him, but apparently he has no power. The Kabary Salem knock down was just messy and if you read his auto bio he was struggling to focus on the bouts and struggling from depression.

Every time he was knocked down, other than the Jones KD, it was a balance thing, let's not forget he was shot himself vs. Jones.

Froch fights with his feet planted, Calzaghe used to stay very light on his feet but he was still very rarely dropped.

wrong, its accurate to say that he was dropped several times when he wasn't facing tomato cans. Sure he was rarely dropped when fighting national level.
However his recovery rate is 2nd to none, thats a stone cold fact. Straight up and BAMBAMBAM. If you are struggling with clinical depression, you shouldn't be in the ring, so its no excuse except you having poor judgement as a fighter, it makes you lesser. If you've got an illness, the figth can be postponed with the clinical evidence to back it up, otherwise its almost always some kind of excuse/lie/ like 'I don't want to fly' clearly was.

Byron really wasn't good, but he wasn't bad at all, one of Joes proper defences. But awful punchbag version of Jones shouldn't be mentioned here as a good opponent, the guys so bad he can scarcely scrape past Lacy, goodness me.

Jones was a forearm. Do you actually watch your idol's fights?

excuse me I have been saying good things about Joe in spades. no need to be rude, even if I wasn't doing that.

Joe wouldn't have survived the Groves onslaught this weekend the way Froch does. I actually thought Froch was going down, especially at his age...but no he just kept coming. Joe cant do that, he'd go down repeteadly - though he'd get up a lot too.
