Vitali. Ali's chin was good but it was his recoup abilities that helped me when he got hurt. We haven't seen Vitali hurt and he has faced some guys with good pop.
anyone who thinks Vitalis chin is better than Ali's is simply a dumb ass. simple answer is Ali's chin has been proven countless times. 15 rounds with Earnie Shavers is one small example. Vitali took some good shots in 1 fight and 1 fight only vs Lewis and it was only 6 rounds of it. how can a guys chin be granted when he is never hit. ali took beatings in his 2nd career as a heavyweight in the 70s the comparison is a joke in itself
Sanders stunned Vitali at least once in their fight. He did take LL's shots well but I'd say that uppercut definitely qualifies as 'stunned'. Apart from those two examples who else has really connected with Vitali? Ali took more power shots against Frazier than Vitali's whole career.
This is a joke, Vitali has the best chin clearly. Everybody has their strengths and weaknesses, but Vitali definately had the better chin.
Is this a joke? Obviously Ali has the better chin he's taken punches from THE best punchers in history. The only ones that landed on Viatlis chin is Lewis (I'll give him credit here) and sanders. The other ones barely connected.
WTF... Vitali does NOT have a better chin than Ali... Reason 1) Vitali would not be able to take shots from foreman.. Reason 2) Vitali hasn't been against anyone with as much POWER as foreman... Reason 3) Vitali still got TKO'd by Lewis, in his prime... Reason 4) Ali never got TKO'd in his prime, (once out of his prime by Larry Holmes) Reason 5) I don't think Vitali would beat Holmes or take a beating from him..
vitali wins this one easy.. Ali's recoup powers were immense though... Henry coopers left hook had Ali walking the ***** street without the map and no Allah to hold his hand. Can't see that punch doing the same damage to vitali.
All your points are invalid. How do you know Vitali would not take shots from Foreman? Do you have any proof to support this idiotic statements? I very much doubt there would be much difference in Foreman and Lewis's power. Losing to a TKO has nothing to do with a boxer's chin. He took everything Lewis gave, but unfortunately there was a risk that he could permanently damage his eye if he continued.
Looking at the stats you'd say Vitali he's not been as hurt or dropped as often as Ali. But it's not that simple. Ali's chin was tested against a fearsome array of heavy punchers and some of the greatest punchers in heavyweight history, Liston, Foreman, Frazier, Shavers, Lyle etc. Vitali's chin has been tested only twice in his career, Lewis and Sanders. Sanders didn't have the conditioning to keep it up and Lewis had Vitali seriously hurt and holding on near the end. Fighters like Mercer, Holyfield and even Mavrovic showed better chins against Lewis than Vitali as they never seemed as hurt as Vitali was against Lewis. Vitali's chin is very good but not as good as the very best like Chuvalo and McCall. Vitali's chin would have to have been more seriously tested to be mentioned against a chin like Ali's.
stats show vitali never been officially knocked down but ali has faced the bigger punchers and showed great recovery skills, although he has had flash knockdowns against fraizer, cooper, and early in his career. But he took tremulous shots against shavers. from viewing from my own opinion i think vitali, i think vitali would be able to take foremans punches, he took that brutal uppercut from lewis, but that doesnt mean these guys cant beat vitali or whether vitali can beat the greats, chin is one aspect, and vitlais chin is very good. its hard to decide, lets say both have great chins
