Haye has done a far better job of defending himself from Wlad than Chambers has so far.

Anybody who thinks Chambers has better defense than Haye, log off now because you don't know **** about boxing.

    Why?

Let's look at the Wlad fight for example.

What did Chambers, the supposed great boxer, do?

He stood straight up and down, squared up, stationary, right in front of Wlad, with no lateral movement, no upperbody movement.

This is brilliant defensive tactics when the man your fighting is the hardest puncher in the heavyweight division, and is incredibly rangy.

How in the **** could anyone think this is good defense?

I mean look at this ****in idiot.

Look at Haye's fight with Valuev. Did Haye just stand in front of Valuev like an imbecile?

No, he used upperbody movment and great lateral movement, to avoid getting hit in a fight where Valuev maybe landed 5 punches and was repeatedly countered with hard shots.

Contrast Chambers stupid ass to Haye.

People may hate Haye, but aside from a few mistakes that he makes every once in a while, Haye has great defense and movement.

Chambers defence isn't very effective against a big punching heavyweight, but he has a good chin to rely on. Haye's defence relies on movement (almost entirely from what I've seen) but when he gets cornered or forced against the ropes his defence looks ****. For me it depends whether you factor footwork and movement as being part of defence. If you do, then its a close one. If not, then Chambers easily has a better defence

How could you not factor this in?

Ever heard of Willy Pep and Pernell Whitaker?

Not to mention, the last time Chambers got trapped in a corner, he got KTFO.

Some people claim Wlad Klitschko has a weak defence, and they use that as a reason

Against opponents his own size, Wlad's defense does leave a lot to be desired.

His defense didn't look very good against a reluctant and cowardly fighting Thompson, and he was shut down quickly when he fought Sanders who had close to the same proportions as Wlad, but was aggressive and game unlike Thompson.

Wlad can look superb against guys who stand right in front of him, and that he dwarfs significantly, but that's because his range and his athleticism allows him to step back and out of the way before his opponent can throw back.

When he tried this against a rangy puncher like Sanders, it didn't work because Sanders could actually reach him.

I think Vitali has much better defense and technique than his brother, and he proved it when he fought Lewis (even in a loss) and if Wlad ever fought Vitali, Wlad's defensive weaknesses would be exposed as his brother would not have much trouble finding him.

People claim that his offense is his defence, but so what? The guy doesn't get hit and that's what it's all about. If that means he uses footwork and range control as a means of defence, then it's very good. It's not all about slipping punches or taking them on the gloves and arms.

Haye has better defense. And that's not saying much because quite frankly, Haye's defense is awful. He lunges in wide open with big arcing punches. He only gets away with it because he's fast.
Haye does uses his reflexes to dodge a bit, but his best defense is that he's fairly agile on his feet. Haye can move away from punching range.

Chamber's defense is that he leans away slightly whilst covering up. His defense is ******ed. Basically, he gets hit, but the lean back slightly lessens the impact. This leaves him on his heels and n poor position to counter. And against a taller fighter, it's completely worthless.

Until you fight Corrie Sanders when you're in your athletic prime, have 40 fights under your belt, are being hyped up as the next greatest heavyweight, and are coming off your the best wins in your career.

Then defense may come into play? No?

Let me get this straight: are you seriously using Wlad and Valuev as common basis for comparing Chambers and Haye? :rofl Even 46-years-old Holyfield was able easily avoid Valuev punches.
