he lead when he fought lower comp most of his early stoppages he was leading that's how he got his nickname dynamite
From what I saw of his earlier fights he would counter guys and they couldn't take the power. And they were stopped.
up till the Chriss john I can't remember his name but up to that fight he was aggressive and would come forward more he was never Provodnikov but he was also not Mayweather
JMM was still a get hit to hit fighter. He’s kinda overrated as a technician. Probably due to the Manny fights but he was another fighter who could only be effective in an exchange. If you didn’t exchange with him, he was a fish out of water.
He was aggressive AF against Diaz and Katsidis. But you aren't wrong. Marquez and Mayweather really relied on the other guy leading and coming to them so that they could counter. I respect Pac for being able to go forward and backwards more than either of them. He had a more rounded game, I suppose. But I think Marquez was more likely to go on the attack and better when he did than Mayweather was. That hanging back to counter style is what cost him most of the decisions that went against him. But you can see him realizing the bad optics mid-fight against Norwood and Bradley and watch him become notably more aggressive in the second halfs. He could go forward and land bombs. That just wasn't his first inclination.
I disagree. My scorecard had that fight a draw. Marquez was inactive for much of the first half and then swept most of the later rounds when he woke up.
Just watched the Salido fight. Snorefest. What a shame. It had the potential to be a classic. Marquez was in four amazing fights and Salido was in seven. They just didn't have the chemistry together. Marquez looked awesome. He wasn't showing much but you have to take a trip about twelve years back down memory lane to remember what gods Marquez, Pac, and May were in their primes. It's too bad Salido was off his game. I think Salido came into his own right after this either from accumulated experience or perhaps he got a different trainer. You know, if Salido had Nacho Beristain from the beginning he could have had a career like Marquez did. He had so much raw potential that just never got refined. Went to youtube to punch up the Chris John fight. All I can find is Indonesian coverage, so I can't really read or hear what's going on too well. But I'm pretty sure that Marquez isn't from Argentina. Least they got the Mexican flag right.
