Even when Whittaker is standing his ground, he is nearly impossible to hit.
    Better radar than Benitez IMO

    Mayweather.

I think that his defense is complete. More than Whitaker's, who was flashy and depended a lot in his reflexes.

I also thought Cotto won 4 or 5 rounds and I valued the body work he was doing.

Floyd's got good technical defense, but his body is left open and gets worked over way, way more than Whitaker's ever was. And Whitaker faced the superior body punchers in his career imo.

You make a good point too about Floyd's resilience to the body. The only time Floyd seemed hurt from some body shots were against Castillo in the first fight (who I think broke his rib and actually knocked Mayweather down in what should have been a legit knockdown).

I pray, PRAY you're joking. Mayweather can't hold a candle to Pea's resume.

There is certainly some truth in what you say....If we are asking who had a more fundementally sound defensive boxing technique Mayweather very well may be the answer....Some of Whitaker's defensive prowess was certainly reflex/athleticism/speed based rather than sound positioning. Based upon who was better defensively or harder to hit cleanly i think they are both on the same level, although i would give a slight edge to Whitaker.

I think Whitaker as a total package was better defensively, even if I might concede that he may not have been quite as sound.

Whitaker got hit a lot more than Floyd, but that's also because he had higher punch output and put his shots together more.

    Sweet Pete.

It's basically like comparing a high quality low budget movie (Floyd) and high quality cgi special effects (Pete).
