In my opinion it's Tyson. His defense was so underrated and in his prime he made it nearly impossible for anyone to hit him. I also think that Wlad's defense is not that good and it really comes from his offense where he uses his jab perfectly.

Say what you will about the jab jab grab but it's highly effective.

The proof is in the pudding. Wlad one of the longest most successful reigns in HW history. Tyson shocked the world and crashed soon after

Both great, just different styles. Tyson was much more exciting to watch and it's not easy tackling someone with a massive height / reach advantage which Tyson did in most of his fights. Wlad's dedication and belief in himself (when others thought he should hang up his gloves) along with help from Emanuel Steward has kept him at the top for so long.

Having said all, that prime for prime - Tyson

Definitely prime Tyson. His head movement was phenomenal for a heavyweight.

Wlad's defense consists of grabbing and draping himself over his opponents over and over again to avoid getting hit and to sap their energy, which works great because he has such a big size advantage over most of them. If he was Tyson's size, however, it wouldn't be nearly as effective and he would have been brutally KTFO by many more bums than he has.

Cmon. Of course its Wlad. Pretty clearly. If you can't see it with your eyes, then at least remember that Tyson got hit; Wlad doesnt get hit.

Yes, Wlad formed a style based around his advantages and attributes. That's what youre supposed to do. It's no good saying 'if he was smaller then it wouldnt work' because if he was smaller he would form a style based around that. Same like saying 'if Ali had slow feet, his style wouldnt work'. yeah, no ****. You play to what you have, not what you dont have.

Wlad's defense relies heavily o having a paid-off ref let him do his clinch & lean routine.

    So, Tyson.

No, like I said, if he was smaller he would have been brutally KTFO by many more bums than he has because he'd still have a shaky chin and wouldn't be able to sap the bums' energy by leaning all over them.

The difference is clearly due to their size, but Wladimir has the better defense.

what defense? Crab and lay of your oppenent is not a defense! It has nothing to do with the rules of Queensbury

    Tyson had real defensive skills!
