I mean there's isnt a great deal in it.

You have to remember how insignificant the wbo belt was back then

Only Neg back then, Noel. If you were having a good bevvy session while watching it, you had work on Monday with a hangover!

Turki's gonna make the 3rd one happen with the dads ...along with a '3rd' one between Jnr & eggy.

This will of course be after Jnr and eggy have their 2nd fight which ironically will be a draw...

It will be an unbelievable exceptional extravaganza of an evening with both generations fighting on the same card. Eubank and Benn 'Dads & Lads' night.

    A double family mains...

    ;)

The first one is way better imo. I think Jnr-Benn is getting way, way overrated, though I did enjoy it. It's a good fight.

Hard for me to compare this fight to a fight of their fathers' because the main importance of this fight is due to the rivalry of their fathers. I was able to see both fights in question LIVE. As a boxing fan, it was one of the more memorable moments from start to finish.

This past weekend was simply an extension of what was already an iconic match up.

Benn \ Eubank the original for me. Saturday's fight exceeded all expectations, and both sons deserve credit. But I felt the father's operated at a higher level and seemed to fight for higher stakes, pure UK bragging rights. I think because the recent fight didn't HAVE to happen it lacked the organic feel of the rivalry of the fathers. And the event of Eubank - Benn 1 was HUGE ... Literally all over the UK press and talk of the public at the time.

The first benn eubank fight. Although what i will say is the kids fight was more competetive. Eubank senior wasnt far away from outclassing benn in that first fight. I think the scorecards we,re really close....but eubank done a number on benn in their first fight.

Nigel was a far better finisher than his son is and Chris Sr had far more power than Jr does but both fights were brawls, nothing technical in either, however the rematch in 93 was more technical, Benn specifically had become far harder to hit than he had been in 1990 after changing trainer.

I think you could be right mark. But eubank was a step ahead of him all night imo. The punch stats we,re pretty even but eubank pretty much got the better of most of the exchanges.

Pro benn crowd....commentary etc basically because eubank at that point wasnt well liked. He was the better man most of the night tho.

I'm pretty sure I just watched it at home. I defo had a few beers though!

I bet the 2nd fight was a memorable night for you all, watching it live. And yes, mate, the miles on the clock can suck when people from your generation sadly start heading off. More so if they were close mates. I lost a very good friend long before he should have gone. Only early 40's, he'd been a diabetic since late in secondary school and had some bad complications due to bad lifestyle living that he really shouldn't have done considering.

Nigel Benn beat Doug Dewitt for the title and then stopped Barkley in his first defense of that title in the 1st round, this was only a year after Barkley had sparked Hearns, Nigel was a far bigger name at that time than Eubank Jr and Conor are rigt not, fighting on free TV gave British fighters far more exposure back then than fighters get now, Nigel wa hugely popular by 1990, his fight with Eubank was a huge deal in the UK and their rematch was one of the biggest sporting events in the history of ITV.
