Which fight in 1989 do you think was the better fight. Both were highly competitive, but I pick Duran/Barkley.

    Two very good fights!!

I voted for Leonard vs Hearns but I'm already having voters regret as Duran vs Barkley is such a toe to toe war!!

Duran-Barkley was a bit better. One of the reasons was to see if the old warhorse had one great fight left in him. There was that contrast between age and youth.

But I love Leonard-Hearns II as well. Both fights had great action and more than a little drama.

Leonard - Hearns 2 was a very good boxing match.

Duran - Barkley was an all out war.

Duran-Barkley was more exciting to watch.

Sugar and Tommy gave us a very good bout too.

    I liked Duran/Barkley better

It was faster paced and nobody gave Duran much of a chance.

Leonard/Hearns II was surprising too. It appeared Hearns was shot after losing to Barkley and getting badly hurt by Kinchen.

Leonard-Hearns II was a great fight, but Duran-Barkley was epic

I went with Barkley vs Duran. Hard to top a street fight between battling Bulls who won't let up..

Me too. I usually go for boxing duels over wars but Barkley-Duran was exceptional.

Especially when one was so mismatched in so many areas and still managed to pull off a win. If I had to pick 5 of the best fights I've ever saw, this would make the list and it could be close to the top. Duran needed a skill set that very few possess.

Leonard vs. Hearns 2 is my all time favorite fight, so that got my vote.

Honestly, two incredible fights. Watching Duran turn back the clock against a significantly bigger man was pretty special as well.

Maybe one of Duran's top 5.

Id say, as odd as this sounds, that leonard/hearns 2 was the better fight but duran/barkley was the better, more important performance.
