both were great in their primes. they both beat alot of A list fighters, but i think both didn't live up to their most important significant fights to be honest. Chavez lost to Whitaker, got the draw, Trinidad lost to Oscar, got a gift decision. I think both Whitaker and Oscar are ATG's and they both obviously won those fights.

Tito's best wins are over Reid, Campas, an old Whitaker, and Vargas. Chavez's are Taylor, Rosario, Haugen, Camacho, Castillo, R. Mayweather, Jose Luis Ramirez, Rocky Lockridge, Juan Laporte, and Mario Martinez, who was favored to beat Chavez. I'd give Chavez the edge just slightly, but not by much.

Chavez easily. Tito I think was overrated a bit and Chavez underrated. Problem is that Chavez started to fight better guys when he was diminished a little.

Trinidad may have not lost at his best weight class, but neither did Chavez. Chavez peaked at 135 against Rosario. He had like 90 pro fights when he finally lost. He established himself as among the greatest ever in two divisions (130 and 140 are not traditional divisions, but have better history than most of the junior ones) and showed great ability in his short time at 135.

Chavez has a better resume of wins and had better abilities/skills than Trinidad.

It's not a difficult pick to make.

I hate these comparisons sometimes based on divisions each fighter fought at ..

Both great for their time ..

and Tito should have 4 losses "dog" since DLH schooled him. and like the other poster said, a prime Sweet pea would embarass Tito badly.

seriously? chavez by a long shot.
Tito's legacy has not aged well and in 20 years will be all but forgotten sadly.
