Both of them very good at blowing away modest opposition, both of them got found out at elite level, and both of them running their mouths before fights but unable to back it up. My pick is Stevens, since he does take his job more seriously and has a couple of wins while behind on the scorecards.
Stevens has some pretty impressive combination punching. He didn't get stuff handed to him because of daddy's name. Moreover, he had a pen. Stevens > Eubank.
This is ridiculous. Eubank would obliterate Stevens stop. Eubank is an old school fighter, he'd KO Groves in a 15 round fight. Don't count Eubank out of a Groves rematch, Eubank can improve.
Stevens can hit far harder but Eubank can be hit far harder. He went the 12 with Groves eating clean shots all night. Yes he has plenty of well documented floors but he is also as tough as they come and unless they can control the distance as well as Groves then Eubank will give anyone problems with his sheer will and toughness
I have no problem with saying Jr is better than Stevens. What I do have an issue with is saying Jr would KO Groves in a 15 round fight, did you see how tired Jr was at the end of that fight? He looked more gassed than Groves at points. Jr had a little rattle in round 12 when Groves was one armed, which gave the impression he finished strongly but the reality is Jr couldn't finish a one armed Groves in round 12.
Stevens is a better boxer, but Eubank Jr. beats him up in the ring. He's too tough for him. You can't teach heart.
Eubank Jr. probably has more natural talent. But Stevens is a student of the game and shown heart in fights he was supposed to lose. Wouldn't count him out against Eubank Jr.
About equal. Different strengths and weaknesses. Eubank Jr could win rounds but Stevens could punish his mistakes and KO him. 50/50
We also need to let go the"young" attribute: the guy will turn 29 in 6 months ; his physical peak is definitely behind him. In 3 years time he will be fresh meat for the young lions at middle/ super middle.
