Better Fighter Pound 4 Pound: Margarito Or Pavlik

I dont like any Margarito threads. im not complaing or nothing but its hard to judge anything when Margarito had bricks in his gloves. you dont know if he was doing that since when he started till now so its kinda of hard to discuss.

 

so making the HUGE assumption he only cheated once I'd put pavlik ahead...the losses to williams and mosley (which was devastating!) trump the loss to hopkins. Even though margarito has a single bigger victory in cotto than any one of pavlik's wins, Kelly's destruction of Miranda, followed by two big wins over taylor form a better indicator of his standing. Before the Hopkins loss kelly was on a hell of a roll. Before the Mosley loss, Margarito was still hot and cold, losing clearly to williams before rebounding with one good and one great win. Pavlik is a better fighter p4p...Margo is tough as nails and wins alot of his fights on balls and heart. Thing is if they were to somehow meet at a catchwatch at 154 I would pick Margo to win. But Kelly is the more skilled and talented fighter of the two.

 

Not the results you were looking for so far I see. Still trying to comfort yourself that Margarito was better than Pavlik so you can convince yourself Williams will win? At 160 to boot? :nut

For me its clearly Margo. See the good fight he gave PW, see the punches he took against Cotto and kept coming to KO Cotto? see his destructions of Kermit Cintron, his decision over J.Clottey.

Mosley was just that good. I also think that Margo was living it up after the Cotto win, might have lost the hunger that he had from being an under-appreciated fighter. Also, I think that maybe he was mentally ****ed with the **** taht happened in his locker room before the Mosley fight.

That being said, I'm not saying that Margo could ever beat Mosley, regardless of circumstances.

 

No. In another thread he is using Marg as an example of a better, more skilled fighter than Pavlik to help convince himself Pdub can beat Pavlik. As if the size difference won't matter.

Pavlik, better jab, better power, similar workrate at his peak, more technically sound, etc.

 

I dont know man Id have to watch Pavlik Vs Williams before choose sides. If Pavlik were to get a Hopkins schooling all over again then that just tells me that Pavliks will never progress and keep on doing the same thing, almost one dimensional. "Use the double jab"

 

if marg hadn't got caught cheating i wouls have voted for him but as he did.......
